Ah, married life...... My husband sleeps peacefully, the even tempo of his breath, altered only by an occasional, gentle snore.
An hour and a half ago, we had some rather intensely enjoyable 'marital time', hence he's been gathered into the arms of Morpheus, to dream and re-charge.
I, on the other hand, lie here awake. Mind too jumbled to doze, sweat still damp on my back and chest. I envy his ability to slumber, especially now.
I gave up an hour ago, & started padding about readying life for the morning. It's All Hallows' eve tomorrow, or rather, it is now. Got up and pulled together costume for the holiday, shined the shoes, and the sporin, shined the belt buckle (little uglier than ornate sterling hopelessly tarnished) and layed out the kilt, Jacobean shirt, & cloak for the morning.
That finished it was off to the kitchen, get the dishes out of the sink & into the washer, sip some tea, and leave some steel cut soaking in water boiled just to seething. (But not before grating some cinnamon, sea salt & mace, with a dash of vanilla and orange blossom water for good measure, into the grain. Oats need not be boring.)
So much more to do, but sleep for now needs to happen.
At least, the tea was decaf.
