"Let the person without sin cast the first stone." But, you see, in the Philippines, they cast stones whether they're sinful or not.
So, Mayor Binay was interviewed in the
GMA show (I think it was Mel & Jay?) about the support of the Mayors League for President Macapagal-Arroyo and he was asked:
Mel: "In case President Arroyo resigns, what are the immediate changes and plans that must be followed by the government? Especially by mayors?"
Mayor Binay: "Oh, we don't have immediate plans yet, we're more concerned about her resignation."
I...I can't even comment on that stupidity.
.......Oh yes I can. How DARE HE?! You just want her to resign and THEN WHAT?! WHAT, I ASK OF YOU, FOOL! YOU ARE THE ONE WHO SHOULD RESIGN FOR YOUR UTTER STUPIDITY!
And in the same show, Loren Legarda was also asked about her viewpoints and what she believes the government should do. Her answer can be summed up: "The Supreme Court should hurry up with the decision concerning the invalidity of Vice-President Noli de Castro's votes and declare me as the Vice-President. And Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo should resign."
Bottom line: Loren Legarda JUST WANTS TO BE PRESIDENT.
With regards to Susan Roces's statement that she is willing to lead the opposition and become the president. True, with the death of her husband Fernando Poe, Junior she has become an active part of the opposition, there is still one important question: Can she lead the Filipino people? What makes her think she has the qualification? The ability? What makes her think that if GMA, with her education, stubborness, and practice in the government, how can Roces be sure she'll be able to handle the country and all the while not gearing the citizens into another EDSA rally like Estrada had?
I want to go to the rally so bad!! And stand in the middle of the crowd with a sign: "PILIPINONG MAREKLAMO NAGRARALLY DITO". Or "WHINY FILIPINOS RALLYING HERE". It might get me killed, but then those people will just be proving their uselessness. Unless they chuck me into vats and tar. Whatever. Hm...Maybe tomorrow Saturday?
I'm not saying that President Arroyo has any faults, and I think that asking her Cabinet to resign is a bad one. She should have goaded them into trusting her, proven her trustworthiness and win them back (although it is understandably problematic since most of them are probably backstabbing her anyway.) Charter change, which I support, must also be pushed back. Put the country into stable conditions, then push for charter change. People are paranoid whenever the term "constitution" is mentioned; it's the Marcos effect, I think. But I still think she has the ability to change this country around. Look at it this way: when Estrada resigned and GMA stepped up as president, the Philippines became better; dollar exchange rate went down. THEN the destabilization statements come in, people lose faith and everyone begins to notice everything wrong, not the things that went right.
If we, as Filipinos, try to help our country as much as we can (and yes, this includes WORK, SWEAT, BLOOD, TEARS and MONEY from all kinds of classes including the higher class, middle class, and lower class) we can turn it around, I'm sure. The Philippines is not only the responsibility of the government, it is the responsibility of each and every citizen.
I know a lot of people are against this, but my opinion is to let President Macapagal-Arroyo finish her term. Democracy is a good thing, but not when the people are already abusing their power. She's not ordering people to be shot in the mountains yet. We overthrew Estrada for the chance to succeed. If we overthrow yet another president, we're throwing away another chance for the Filipino people to succeed because of that mistake where a running president called a COMELEC officer, when it's also doubtless that other then-running officers did the same mistake.
Let THEM persecute with President GMA. After all, we're Filipinos, we're all sinners, and we're all fighting for the development of the Philippines. We should stick together.
Oh, and I was horrified upon learning about London. That was indiscrimination, not a statement.
