Snupin Santa recs!
November and December were shaping up to be bad, evil months where I can't finish most of my research papers and I end up staring at the window because of bad cold, allergies, and eczema.
SO. I have recs for the first wave of Snupin Santa (Lupin/Snape ahoy!).
A Dream Within a Dream
anon. Snape and Lupin. CHRISTMAS THEME. The afterlife is more like The Nutcracker story.
Okay, before anyone says anything about this being a gift for me, I hav to say that the day I read this was the first time I felt the holidays. Usually, the holiday happiness gets me during the first days of December, but curiously enough, not this month. But THIS STORY, which is about Severus getting into The Nutcracker story, made me feel happy. There was also the underlying story of Severus himself--the war, Harry, his feelings for Remus--all wrapped up in this gorgeous story. I read it again recently and, I swear, it made me weep. Oh, the myriad of emotions! Read it!

This is amazingly done. I love the cuteness, the happy feel of family and love here. This is a picture of Severus, Remus, and Teddy (at least, I'm guessing it's Teddy). I love Severus' giant hands around Teddy's itty-bitty wrists. He looks so gentle! AH. ♥
Terrific Two's Summer of Mystery
anon. An Enid Blyton-style porn fic. It's the summer hols and there are adventures to be had! There are mountains to climb, islands to explore and caves to be delved into and for two young men it is the summer of their sexual awakening. Amid ginger beer, ham sandwiches and good clean fun (while dressed in jerseys, shorts and rubber-soled shoes) Remus and Severus discover more to life than hidden passageways *ahem*, buried treasure *ahem* and getting one's mouth round a juicy pork pie *ahem*. Whoever knew you could have so much fun in a tent? Bonus points for criminals with revolvers! (they always have revolvers)
This has been recced to the high heavens before, but just in case there are still people who missed it, it's an adventure fic reminiscent of Enid Blyton's style. The adult concept was a bit jarring to me, but the adventure is amazing and the setting is clear and beautifully described. I could see the entire adventure before my eyes!
A Picture of Success
anon. Dumbledore glanced at him, blue eyes piercing, but his voice deceptively mild, “Experience has taught me that when Voldemort tries very hard to acquire something, it is better to ensure that he does not succeed.” (implied prostitution, violence)
This has also been recced before, but I love adventure stories. The image of Remus and Severus working together in a cat-burglar adventure really tickles me. Plus, it has manipulative!Dumbledore.
Interludes and Peppermint
anon. In their fifth year, Remus and Severus are both left at Hogwarts over the holidays. They discover that they have a few things in common.
Another highly-recced story--for a very good reason! It's a holiday fic while Severus and Remus are young in Hogwarts. I commented to the story about my favorite line:
Moste Potente Potions, the cover declared in blocky Gothic lettering. “You can tell it's old because moste has an e,” Remus said.
OH BOYS. ♥
The Christmas Wish
anon. It has been six years since the end of the war and both Remus and Severus survived. However, Tonks didn't, and Remus was left to raise Teddy, along with Severus. Now it is as come time to tell Teddy about the birds and the bees. How are they going to explain to Teddy about homosexual relationships? (Somewhere Andromeda says something to Teddy about heterosexual relationships.)
It's a beautiful holiday picture of Severus and Remus slowly starting their relationship in a flashback, while in the current timeline they struggle to take care of Teddy and be a family despite some setbacks. Andromeda came off as a believable character (and I love that the author showed a hint of her being part of the Black family!).

This picture has a simple style but has a rich expression. I especially love Severus' parted lips. He's clearly reacting from Remus' hand on his chest and the way Remus kisses his neck. The artist really captured the erotic side of Snape/Lupin. It's beautiful!
