More Monkey Business

I am becoming obsessed. I am increasingly fixated.

Check it. . .

As I watched some TV last night (because I was bored and felt absolutely no creative impulse - thus doing what I always claim to hate) I had another one of those monkey-moments. . .

All of a sudden it hit me how bizarre a concept a commercial is. . . On a very basic level, a commercial is a means by which some monkey or collection of monkeys tell other monkeys that they have something for trade - and try to actually convince the monkeys that are watching that the item or items are something they should have. . .

The commercial for the local news broadcast was even more mind-boggling - because the level of complexity rises - look a commercial for the news is a means by which some monkeys tell you about what they plan to tell you about what is happening or has happened to some other monkeys, which they want you to see because some other monkeys have paid them to be able to show some monkeys (me) what they have to trade intermittenly during the broadcast of monkey news.

Of course, this is way over-simplified, when you keep in mind the logistics behind actually accomplishing this means of spreading monkey information, the relationships and individual and collective steps required for all this monkey business it really blows your mind.

But my point even boiled down to the most basic description of these behaviors and relationships we humans are pretty amazing monkeys - not that monkeys themselves are complex and fascinating - I think I'll have to make a trip to the Bronx Zoo this spring and observe some animals and better yet observe us human animals observing other humans. . .
