We now have the next installment in the Osvaldo song lyric series - with another song that I am feeling at the moment. . . 19 People Beetween Us was written in the fall of 1995 when I was questioning my own self worth and the success rate of my relationships.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
19 People Between Us
The little distances between us
Seem to grow late at night
They warp everything around me
They warp everything in my sight.
But how can I know what is real?
When I don’t know how it is I feel?
Emotion is a little man inside me
That lies and multiplies.
“There are 10 people inside me,” she said.
That’s more than I have by one
But having 9 people inside me is no fun
Sometimes I think I’ll throw a party for all my selves
It could be my own little private hell
We could argue about every decision I ever made
We could argue ourselves to an early grave
And nitpick about every detail
Of every success and failure
And every her in my life will be there
To mock me and serve cocktails.
[CHORUS]
“There are 10 people inside me,” she said.
That’s more than I have by one
But having 9 people inside me is no fun
Either
That didn’t please her.
Oh yeah
That didn’t please her.
Looking at myself is like looking in a broken mirror
I think I can see far, but I can see further
Unless of course I am deceiving myself
And writing another book that collects dust up on my shelf unread.
I make up my own problems in my own head.
[CHORUS]
