Last night I dreamt it was election time. . .
And for some reason Kerry was not running. . . Instead it was only Ralph Nader against Bush and they were calling it for the incumbent as more and more votes came in for him over the twisted-lipped consumer advocate.
But suddenly in the middle of the race, Michael Moore jumped in and ended up winning by just a few electoral votes!
I remember thinking that perhaps Michael Moore was not qualified to be President of the United States, but shrugging my shoulders I was happy it was not Bush again.
The last thing I remember was Michael Moore giving a kind of dazed speech in front of the Capitol (as it turned out it had been a publicity stunt, but he decided to take the job anyway) and as George W. left crowds were jeering, "Na Na Na Na! Na Na Na Na! Hey Hey Hey! Good-bye! We don't want you anymore!".
But there was an underlying whispered rumor through the crowd about tanks and a military coup, and people started ripping up benches and turning over buses, and wrestling in the reflecting pool and I was worried that I would miss my Chinatown bus back up to NYC and not be able to prepare my molotov cocktails for the coming revolution.
It might have been a fever dream, as I woke up clammy and miserable several times last night and have been coughing up hard balls of green phlegm all day. . .
I still have to write about my trip to Puerto Rico, but that will take more energy than recounting a dream and more energy than I have left.
