Fall soon then. Not that we need a reminder, seasonal change being one of the things that actually remains ordinary here - for the most part.

Well.

Christmas in July and summer weekends in the winter aside.

Christmas in July? Do we get twice as many presents, then?

Not that I've seen, though supposing it became enough of a known thing, I wouldn't be surprised if people began treating it as such.

Not a single Santa Clause to accompany the inconvenience? Just when I'm sure most have put away their furs and gloves. How this City disappoints.

I've only seen him once since arriving here, myself, even at the proper Christmas time.

Perhaps next year.

Are you new, then?

Oh- that is quite the story.

[She was just kinda kidding before. But Santa? Really?]

You could say I've yet to experience much here so far. I've certainly never met Santa.

Most would call that fortunate - er not the part concerning Father Christmas but the part about not having experienced too much.

You've been largely unaffected by the curses, I take it.

I suppose I am-- simply a fortunate sort of girl. I have nice complexion, I've already met a handful of gentleman, and for once it's all right that someone doesn't like me. A fortunate, disliked girl doesn't get picked on.

So you are correct. Truthfully, I've only really been cursed once.

Where you're from, that is, does it matter so much, that a gentleman or anyone else likes you?

Is it strange to not want to be so strange?

I suppose not, though you don't seem strange to me in the slightest.

Granted we've only just begun speaking.

"Not in the slightest" is something of an exaggeration, it seems.

[Pause...]

The effort, however, is appreciated.

There's a difference you know, between strangeness and simply being different.

[ There's a pause, and all this time his tone is genial, calm. ]

Pleasure though.

I'm Peter -- Pevensie.

[ Clarified though he's rather certain there aren't many others around. ]
