Got through the aufruf. I did freeze halfway through and had Hebrew script characters dancing all over the page (yay, rah, goooo dyslexia), so the rabbi fed me the last two lines. Apparently, no one knew that. What was cool afterwards is that I felt embarrassed because I blew it. people were coming up to me and slapping me on the back telling me how cool it was that I was willing to get up and do it at all. When they realized that I had never read Hebrew without the vowel markings, they told me that I was really courageous. The old ladies who were brought-up Orthodox and survived the camps were telling me that they had been to scared to try it themselves, so they thought that it was amazing that I could do it. One of our friends who is a rabbi told me that he hates doing Torah trope, and that as many times as he's done it he still gets up there and freaks out for a minute because he's sure that he will go blank.

For me, now everything else is sliding into homeplate (*chuckle* I just wrote 'hoeplate'). Just have to get the details in place and we're good to go.

Even better, we had more folks drop off the list of attendees, so I was able to invite Aria, too. Yay! I hope she can come; it would be much fun to have her there.

And, since so many folks have dropped off the attendee radar we'll have 20 less than what we thought, so we can do more with the flowers! Yay!
