Notes:
1. Bad day at work yesterday, so I watched some live-action Prince of Tennis Musicals instead of posting. >_<
2. I like a Gakuto who thinks, sometimes, under the cover of the stars and the night sky.

16. Worth It
“Yuushi…”
“Hm?”
“Do you think this is weird?”
“…?”
“Us.”
“…”
“You. Me.”
“…why?”
“You answer my question first.”
“No.”
“Yuushi!”
“I meant, no, I do not find this strange.”
“Oh.”
Silence.
“Not even a little bit?”
“No."
"..."
"Hmm...?”
“... why you?”
Silence.
“I’m handsome, charming, intelligent, irresistible - ouch, Gakuto.”
“Really, Yuushi. I mean, even our parents… don’t understand.”
“True. My father hasn’t stopped trying to make me feel guilty for leading you off the path of the straight and narrow.”
“Well, you did!”
“So did you, if it comes to that.”
“…”
Silence.
“Yuushi…?”
“Hmm?”
“Sometimes, it’s just that - well, the rest of the world, and - and…I don’t know…”
“Family aren’t quite rest of the world.”
“Yeah, but you know what I mean.”
Pause.
“I don’t think we’ll ever stop worrying about what the rest of the world thinks, Gakuto. As human beings, we’re social creatures. Our roots are in our families, our friends and society at large. However much we tell ourselves not to care, well, we do. At the end of the day, the decision must lie with us - whether we think it’s worth it.”
“…oh.”
Silence.
Someone’s mobile phone beeps, signalling an incoming message.
“It’s Hiyoshi. He says they’re meeting at the usual place for ice-cream now, Yuushi.”
“What time is it now?”
“Ten o’clock. But Yuushi, you’ve got a long day tomorrow. Let’s go home.”
A sigh. “That makes me feel like an old man.”
“There’s Häagen-Dazs ice-cream in the freezer anyway-”
“Let’s go. Tell Hiyoshi we’ll meet them there in fifteen minutes.”
“Eh?”
“Don’t worry. Let’s go have ice-cream with crêpes.”
“Really?”
“Unless, of course, you’d rather go home-”
“Nonononono-”
One hour later.
The crêpes are delicious, and the rich, creamy ice-cream and oodles of chocolate sauce spill over the crisp, warm edges of the crêpes.
“…hey, Yuushi.”
“Hmm?”
“….thanks.”
“Mmm.”
One small step at a time, Gakuto.
