===================================

2. Teeter

There’s a fine line, it’s said, between friendship and that mysterious, indefinable realm beyond.

Gakuto may be impulsive, but he is actually more stubborn than impulsive. He’s also sharper than most people give him credit for-and more naïve than people realise. He likes Yuushi more than anyone else, he really, really does, but he’s far too stubborn to admit that. That’s because he’s sharp enough to sense, instinctively, that there’s a can of worms that will spring open if he really does admit that. Yet it’s something he never bothers to think about-why does he like Yuushi so much? That’s a question he’s never asked himself, because it has simply never occurred to him that that he might want to ask himself this question. So, it seems, he will never know the answer.

Oshitari seems to be all cool logic, right down to his fingertips… but inside him beats a very human heart. It materialises itself in his inexplicable affection for romantic films and romance novels. Oshitari enjoys his relaxing little hobby very much. Yet in typical analytical fashion, he’s learning, too, from the mistakes of the protagonists and antagonists in the films and novels. He carefully constructs for himself a philosophy about love, spiced with romantic touches and footnoted with wry observations about its practical application to real life. So, it seems, he has overlooked the two ingredients that make love so very special: its ability to defy logic, theory and philosophy-and its appearance where it is least expected.

-And so Oshitari and Gakuto walk on in life, secure in what they have, yet teetering on the brink of what might be.

One day, they may just fall over the edge...
