I can has job soon, maybe?

So the other day I got a really weird email from Urban Eats Cafe. It was weird for a couple of reasons. First off was the content of the email: it was a list of questions very similar to what one might be asked in a job interview, but in email form. Like a cross between a short answer test and a job interview. Weird. The second weird thing about it is that this was the second time I'd gotten this email. I got the same email a couple of weeks ago, but when I sent it back with the questions answered, I never heard back, and they reposted their craigslist ad the next day, so I figured they just didn't like my answers. So I was very surprised to get the email again. I checked my "sent" folder to see what I had put before, thinking maybe I could re-word some things, and have a second chance, to find that it wasn't in there. So I'm thinking maybe I filled it out before, and never actually sent it. This is seeming more and more likely, as I sent pretty much the same email again, and received a very positive reply this morning! So that's one.

Yesterday I also got an email from the owner of City Diner. That's also an interesting story. They're opening a new location, so they had a job fair-type thing a couple weeks ago. I went, filled out an application, and was actually the first person called in for an interview that day. I talked to the owner, and not only did she seem to like me, she actually uttered the words, "Well, I like you," told me that they would be calling me for a second interview, and put a big stamp on my application. Then I didn't hear from them. The mother of one of my friends is apparently friends with said owner, and called her to put in a good word for me. She was told that although they initially liked me, they had gotten a negative reference for me. This, of course, was very upsetting, but said mother-of-my-friend assured her that there was something odd about that, and she said that if I resubmitted my resume, she would have another look. So I did, and she seems interested again. The updated resume, of course, has a different reference than the one that allegedly sucks. So that's two.

And then also yesterday, I got a call from H&M in the Galleria, and we set up an interview for tomorrow at noon. Of course, I would rather work in food service, and for a place that isn't a chain, but H&M does use a lot of eco-friendly materials, and has good ethics as a whole. They, in fact, just put out a new line of organic cotton clothing. Sooooooo, that's three!
