There are generally 3 seasons in New Mexico; winter, spring, and fire. There's a forest fire burning just outside Los Alamos, between Los Alamos and White Rock. I took a drive into the Jemez this evening and the air was so smoky that I had to turn around.
The benefit is now the entire town has a wonderful wood-burning smell to it, and the temperature has settled in the 60s. Perfect time to light up the backyard fitpit, curl up on a lawnchair with a sweater, and make s'mores with a little Gruet Rose on the side. It almost feels like fall. Santa Fe smells exactly like this at night in October.
I had a little bit of a rough day. So did someone else who is very, very important to me. The most important person.
Anyway, it's time for sleep.
