It's funny the things we inherit from our parents. Some inherit old furniture that will eventually fit into a hodge-podge aesthetic of a college apartment. Others will inherit strange habits that have been ingrained in them since childhood.
For me, its all of my mom's techniques for keeping the house cool during the day. I close the window in my room during the day to keep all of the heat out (not sure if this actually works, but old habits die hard). And then at night, you open the windows to let the cool breezes in, and then closing the windows the next morning will trap the cold air in.
My new apartment is great. It's open and airy, and although it sometimes annoys me, the family that lives beneath us isn't so bad. Yeah, they argue at 8am about change that a mother needs for laundry (but a daughter wants for herself), but its kind of refreshing. At least my door has not yet been kicked in at this apartment. And the landlord isn't batshit crazy. I would like to get to know the neighbors a little better. A lot of hot guys live around us, and I hear them playing "Rock Band" from time to time. Patty feels that "Rock Band" is the perfect in with them. We'll see.
I finished another summer with LBLP, which was awesome. I decided that I really like the job, even though the corporate qualities of it kind of annoy me. Essentially, you are being paid well to do a good thing. Yeah, I wish that I could target more low-income or in-need communities, but I'm content with the changes I've made in a lot of people's lives.
