Happened across this one yesterday while looking for a good vid for Don't Fear the Reaper and realized ooooh, I wish I heard Ram Jam's Black Betty more often!

My original pick for this was Drive-By Truckers' The Three Great Alabama Icons because not only is the music lovely, but I just cannot ever get enough of Patterson Hood's adorable, accented, earnest voice combined with his sing-songy storytelling. There are probably lots of places where you can hear DBT on the radio, but well-- not in NYC. And even in places where you'd hear their songs on the radio, I'm not sure you'd necessarily hear this song?
This song is about, well, as the title says. And is the set-up for Wallace, the next song on Southern Rock Opera (my favorite of all their albums), which as he says, is about the devil welcoming George Wallace to Hell like a real southerner-- with sweet tea.
PLEASE PATTERSON, TEACH ME MORE. <3
