POTVIN SUCKS!
Started October 2nd. And I am having a grand old time with it!
Went to the pre-season opener against the Boston Bruins back on September 15th. For free! One of the people I know on twitter had gotten a pair of tickets from another person on twitter who has season tickets (400-level seats) but lives in Pennsylvania so he doesn't make it to too many of the games, I guess. It was a lot of fun as we met up with a few other friends from twitter, sat together, and then moved down to 200-level seats for a closer view. It was pretty sweet!
A week or two later, the season-ticket holder said he had an extra ticket for the October 14th game against the LA Kings! So YEAH BABY, another free game! Who cares if it's LA and not an Eastern Conference team? It's exciting to watch games live anyway.
Then, randomly, on Tuesday night, Judy's coworker Ryan tweeted about a friend wanting to sell his tickets to this Sunday's game against the Ducks (they're no longer the Mighty Ducks, just so you know) for $60/each (300-level seats, my favorite)! I happened to catch the tweet about a minute after he posted, which is odd, because usually once I get home I don't check twitter unless I'm watching a game. I got in touch with the guy (who ALSO has season tickets, most of which he's trying to sell off) because $120 for a pair of tickets to 300-level seating really isn't bad at all, so (as AJ can attest) I was SUPER EXCITED all night after that! But guess what? Both Judy AND Liz are out of town this weekend! Which may have worked out for the best because now MARYANN gets to go! To her first live game! And not at an exorbitant price! YAY!
So the guy emailed me this morning to remind me that I should get back to him ASAP if I want tickets and I called Liz to discuss what to do (since Juliet would also like to go to a game later this season), and both Liz and I were determined to go to an Islanders v. Rangers game this season. The Juliet part of it is still up in the air, but Liz and I decided to just go ahead and buy tickets to a NYI v. NYR game --
Wednesday, December 16th! And it's center ice (section 309), which is really important if one is paying $95 each ticket!
Unfortunately, I don't have enough money to keep this hobby going (hmm, much like anime conventions). I'm so lucky for my #nhltweetup tweeps on twitter. OH YEAH -- that #nhltweetup I went to for the season opener (October 2nd)? Found an awesome sports bar on Avenue A -- a HOCKEY sports bar! With an awesome bartender named Tim, who's a lot of fun to chat with! I WILL BE GOING BACK THERE!
I really have much more to talk about, but I think that's good for one post.
Oh, last thing -- Del Zotto and Gilroy. YES, PLEASE and THANK YOU. Let's hope one or both of them will be lifers!
