Again with the coming home late~! (Though maybe this could be considered early?)

This whole weekend was pretty sweet.

Saturday I woke up late and lounged in the living room for a while. Then got ready for that anime fundraiser which was epicly boring and lame. Got to hang a bit with Janina and Jasmine, and Lauren & Mike & (tall) Greg, though, so that was cool~.

Attempted to eat in Chinatown but parking was not going to happen (totally forgot about the San Gennaro festival), so Judy and I went home instead. But I went back out at around 11:30pm for dancing and walking and fun. Went to one place in the West Village where I was pretty bored by the music, so I walked over to Chinatown where there was an industrial/goth event. Danced til almost 4am, which was verrrrrry nice.

Walked a lot that night, actually. West Village to Chinatown, back to St. Mark's, then over to West 4th again. Broadway at that time of night is pretty dead, and very nice for walking! I had on my headphones and had a nice little speed-walk going. No tourists or other shoppers to bump into, slow down behind, or push out of the way. It's also quite interesting to see all the stores closed except for the occasional Halal cart.

OMG, did I mention that I saw that blond girl who made it to the final 3 from that TV show, Shear Genius? She was going into Off the Wagon on Bleecker Street. It's funny; what made me actually look at her is that I love her hair. And then her face looked so familiar, it only took me a second to remember how I knew it. [/random]

Got home at 6:30am, though I wasn't able to fall asleep for a while.

Got up (late!) at 11am on Sunday, but made it to chienverde's birthday gathering where we traveled to Chinatown to have delicious food. A guy named Robbie got a delicious sea bass in yummy spicy sauce, which I brought home for dinner. ^^

Oddly enough, Alex stayed over last night and when I mentioned that I was going to Laura's birthday gathering, we figured out (after a bit of "which Laura"?) that we were talking about the same Laura -- at which point I decided to bring him with me to the gathering as an awesome surprise present! I was also pretty happy that he went with because I haven't seen him for more than 10 minutes at a time in years, so it was really great to be able to hang out with him for a couple of hours.

We split with the group after food -- so I missed out on whatever karaoke-fun/craziness happened. =( But while walking Alex to the E train at Canal Street, we happened to walk down a side street and stumbled across this pretty awesome building with an amazing facade! It is recessed so that the buildings on either side hide it from view at either end of the block -- so when we passed in front of it across the street, it was pretty darn awesome and arresting!

There was a guy sitting on a stoop about 15 feet away from us and we got into a conversation about the coolness of the building. He'd been waiting for a friend to show up, but meanwhile Alex and I were going to take a picture of ourselves, so he offered. What followed was hilarious in its similarity to a sit-com! We were under some construction and backlit, so we were in complete shadow in the pictures, so Alex tried to put on force-flash, but the guy didn't hold the shutter down long enough or whatever, so it didn't go off. Meanwhile, the friend he was waiting for (whom he hadn't seen since junior high!) showed up and they hugged and then he continued trying to take our picture. Like TEN TIMES before the flash finally went off! Then the friend introduced herself (Cat), probably thinking we were all friends -- but the guy said we were total strangers! Then Alex introduced himself and I introduced myself and the guy introduced himself (Danny). So we all were very polite and slightly awkward (in a self-acknowledgingly amusing way) in our introductions, and then basically parted ways, wishing each other good day/luck/etc.

What an awesome random occurance! <3

I have to say, I have always had the most interesting, positive, stranger-related experiences when stopping to admire or discuss art in general, and modern/contemporary art in particular.

After walking Alex to the E, I ended up walking back over to St. Mark's to meet Liz. Like I said, lots of walking this weekend -- and it was quite pleasant -- even if the pedestrian traffic along Broadway was absolutely crazy and like night and day in comparison to my walk only 12 hours earlier.

Pun intended, of course.
