At least in the respect that I did not relax much and there was no animoo. Other than that, it was FULL OF WIN!
And I'm not sure exactly how scared I should be -- just realizing that I have really picked up Chris's way of speaking. Hmmm... at least, online. To a certain extent. Probably 'cause it makes me smile. =D
Anyway. Epic fail, indeed. I got to sleep until 2pm on Saturday, at least. When I woke up, I did some chaos management for my mom, who is always a wreck before she goes on a trip. Always worries about what clothes to bring, etc. Business trips are even worse. So I helped her plan what to wear and bring. They're leaving early early on Saturday morning, so I think I'm going to be getting up around 4 or 5am to drive them to the airport. I'd better figure out what I'm wearing to Morgan & Joe's party soon because I intend to go back to sleep after driving to the airport. Otherwise I'll be the one passed out on the couch.
So the thing that got me out of the house when I'd intended to stay in all day was that Anna called and said she, Ben, Jim and his posse were going to be hanging out and did I want to join them? Of course. I may be shy and quiet, but above all, when it comes to my friends, I always want to hang out. >_<; So I went to meet them at the Carmine's on the upper west side. OMG. HUGE amounts of food. Just HUGE. I ate little portions of this and that; it was more than enough. This time around, I knew better than to stuff myself silly. Seriously, I think Jim likes taking new people to Carmine's so he can watch them try to kill themselves eating.
Judy was not able to make it to Carmine's this time, but she joined us a little later on our way to Jim's friend's house in Teaneck, NJ. Don't ask me where the hell Teaneck is. It was a huge, beautiful, old house, but although the houses were not very far apart, it felt like the middle of nowhere. I think I tend to feel that way when you actually have to drive to go anywhere. I'm definitely a product of having grown up in NYC. What can I say.
We had a fun time at Anthony's house and I got to drink Jim's homemade Blackberry mead. It was actually quite delicious, and reminded me of a good French port I had once. Mmm. Not quite as dry, but still yummy.
Also! I slept in a military grade sleeping bag with a thickness of an inch or two of down. Oh MAN, that was fun! Srsly, I kind of wish I had pics 'cause I had an awesome time being zipped up in it. ^_~ Though I think I'd have died if I had to sleep fully zipped in it. I move around way too much to be comfortable sleeping stock-still all night.
Next morning we had homemade breakfast, courtesy of Jim and Lia. I tried marmite spread, which is flavorful, but pretty darn high in sodium, so I doubt I'll ever have it again. And a white cheddar omelet which came back to haunt me later, but which was absolutely delicious at the time and totally worth it.
The full-size of this pic (from Liz's awesome camera phone) is now my wallpaper at work. I'll have to see if it fits my widescreen properly at home.
Let me start out by saying that Liz went skiing on Saturday and FELL DOWN AND TWISTED HER KNEE. FUCKING BITCH. She called while I was helping my mom "pack". So I wondered for the rest of Saturday and part of Sunday whether she would be going to the game with me or not. Luckily, the x-rays showed that she did NOT break or fracture anything; it's just a sprain. Possibly with a torn ligament. But she seems to be able to hobble around alright.
After coming home from NJ, I did things for an hour or two and then took the express bus from Queens into the city. While we were waiting for the bus, a guy in a car across the street decided to have a shouting conversation with us about hockey and the Rangers because, like a good NYR fan, I was wearing my Leetch <3 jersey. It was a bit odd, but okay. I guess maybe it's a novelty for guys to see girls in sports jerseys who are obviously fans?
Anyway, Liz and I were the only ones on the bus, which was a little weird. But we made it to MSG okay and those seats were right on the aisle (good luck!) AND on the side of the aisle where Liz could extend her bad leg into the walkway a bit (more good luck!). So it worked out well.
The guy to my left was at the game alone, and I wish I'd started talking to him earlier than I did because I found out he's an Australian who's been snowboarding in Colorado for the past couple of weeks and would be in NYC for 4 days, so his friend told him he had to see a hockey game while he was there. ^_~ It was also that guy's first time at a hockey game.
While the game itself wasn't the most bite-your-nails exciting game I've ever seen, it was a good game to see live for the first time. It was nice to see the Rangers playing pretty darn well (they really dominated the first period!) -- not to mention THE SHUTOUT! End score was 5-0, yay Lundqvist!
So yes, that was quite possibly the best end-of-year present EVAR! Liz and I had an awesome fun time! <3 Thank you

So, my birthday is coming up in 3 months, and I'd really like to consider partial season tickets. Who's in~?! Alright, alright -- so I'm not serious... there's a waitlist, anyway. One day, I tell myself. In any case, Liz is determined to get a pair of NYR vs. NYI tickets. My father says it'd be cheaper to get those tickets at Nassau Coliseum -- it's probably true; but it's such a schlep. ^^;
