Bowling last night was awful. I was utterly terrible. Howard (my doubles partner) is going to be really pissed off with me when he gets back.
This week has been pretty low-key. Had band practices on Tuesday night - TMS and Matadors. Both went really well - Matadors in particular. We have the bones of a couple of new songs down. Although the lack of any 'out of town' gigs continues to bother me. I'm sure they'll come, but whenever anybody actually offers us a gig, we never seem to be able to play it. The Mercy Suite is in the studio this weekend to complete the work on the new album. I'm really excited, but also a little nervous because there's pressure on me to get on the mic for some backing vocals. Am toying with the idea of a few beers to provide some massively needed Dutch Courage.
The diet/exercise project is going nicely. The weight seems to be falling off me at the moment, which is nice. The clothes that I was struggling to lever myself into now seem to fit me again. With room to spare... Salad's back! I'm totally into swimming at the moment. Going about four times a week now. It has to be said - I am the world's weakest swimmer, but am getting stronger the more I plug at it. I'm averaging about 30 lengths now. Managed 40 a couple of times and really suffered for it the next day. Hey - no pain no gain & all that. I do think that Virgin needs to introduce a new lane in the pool because even in the slow lane I still have Grannies zooming by me faster than a laser bullet (thanks Priest!). I keep having minor spats with folks that are giving me attitude for going too slowly. Like, which part of 'SLOW LANE' don't you understand you titwillow?!?!?
I have two tickets for an advance preview of The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou for Sunday morning. As much as it's came in from loads of criticism from folks that I know in the US, I'm still really looking forward to it. There hasn't been a Wes Anderson film yet that I haven't completely adored, so I reckon that even a below-par Wes movie is still gonna be fairly on the money. Plus, you know, Bill Murray.
Bored!!!
