I was all funked out yesterday, and forgot to post this fanfic. I wrote it a couple of days ago. It's a merely-okay fic, so don't get too excited. It started as a Big Idea, in which I thought I would write a faux manga episode in the styles of several famous turn-of-the-last-century British authors. I think that's what CLAMP is doing with xxxHOLiC, only mostly using references from within their own culture (and God knows I can't write in the styles of several famous turn-of-the-last-century Japanese authors). Turns out that the reason all those famous authors are famous is that they're really talented, and it's sort of difficult to copy them. Go figure. So I just wrote something, and tried to stud it with lots of descriptive, symmetrical, compound-complex sentences, which were all the fad in the Edwardian era. Blink and you'll miss them. Anyway.
(
Three Wishes )
Part 1 of 1
Series: xxxHOLiC
Pairing: Doumeki/Watanuki
Warnings: some brief non-erotic boykissing, a wanky premise, dirty words from Yuuko
I'm sure CLAMP will come up with a much, much better ending for the series, if they actually write one. xxxHOLiC is my favorite manga ever. Its atrocious English translation is probably #982 on the American best-seller list. Not that I'm bitter.
If the bushwhacked TRC is
this popular (IT GOTS SAKURA IN IT!!!), no wonder I have so many cretins sending me stupid e-mails. I'm hoping they're all reading the Del Rey editions because they're unaware that the manga is actually available to for cheap in Japanese, and can be
augmented by people who are actually capable of real translation.
I TOLD
YOU THAT KUROGANE'S BACKSTORY WOULD BE THE MOST INTERESTING!!! I TOLD
YOU!!!!!! Was that a Seishirou-style giant crow demon I saw in there? Now if only Syaoran would pass off the magical Fushigi Yuugi novel to Fay, I could actually make some updates to BlueSkies that weren't cosmetic or fannish. Anyway. I think CLAMP has pretty cleanly eliminated the possibility of a happy ending in that last chapter. Long Dong Silver is probably also behind the evil plot that transformed Fay into a killer pussycat zombie, and is thus the reason he refuses to turn on his heart-light without a kekkai (even though Fay might not know it himself). So, Kurogane and Fay both became takers of life because of Long Dong. And I think we all know what a character in a manga has to do to pay back the debt incurred by taking life for no valid purpose.
Speaking of which! I'm 98% over FullMetal Alchemist -- I loooooved it initially, because it had the most incredible leitmotif I'd ever seen in a manga, in which the human relationships of the characters were mirrored in the processes of the alchemy they practiced, but now it seems to be turning into a nicely done but completely stock shounen series -- but I really liked that last chapter.
This was my favorite part. I was all: Noooo, Ed! Don't kick his teeth out! Then he won't be pretty anymore!!
Mmmm. Bishounen article later. I fear I may be pumping you up for no reason. My reaction to Advent Children rhymed with SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!
