taking the train

Well, I think I've done it, by God! Electricity in a box [...I was referring to a lightbulb here, but lightbulbs aren't boxes, so... 25 MARCH 2006]! And they said it couldn't be done! It took me a little while -- the 'Modify Journal' page froze like a popsicle when I added more than seven divisions of images, so I had to go back in and slice it bigger -- but I did it. This is the way I designed the layout to look, and it scans correctly in OmniWeb, Firefox, Camino, and Safari (which actually has the best rendering engine of the bunch, which is why it returns more errors and tends to look wonkier). Can't say much for Internet Explorer, much less Windows. Maybe one of you IEWin users can weigh in? It would help me in general with layout-making, period.

You can get my overrides by clicking on 'overriding' in the nav, if you're interested. I didn't come up with much of it myself, so feel free to use it anywhere you want.

I remain undaunted by the fact that the TRC anime is increasingly hideous-looking (thanks for posting a link to those images!). Who the hell needs daunts? That is my motto, where the TRC anime is concerned. I'm still happy about it. So what, Fai looks like a scribble and Kurogane resembles an adolescent frog? And Sakura looks like Miaka Yuuki in a wig and Syaoran didn't even make it to Tamahome? I DON'T NEED YOUR DAMN DAUNTS, DAMMIT.

Anyway. It also took me forever to fix this page because I had another problem with my domain disappearing (which is why, if you look at my code, I have the specific address of my host in place of the name of the domain itself; I'll have to go back in and change it later). The very nice man who does support for my hosting company showed me that the problem was with NuNames, who not only charge six times what they ought to license a domain name, but they don't keep up with redirecting the domains to the name servers. They don't hop enough, or they hop too much, or there's not enough glue in there, or enough fairy dust on it or enough happy thoughts in it or something, to be honest with you he wasn't all that articulate about it and I didn't get it to begin with. So, the practical upshot of this is that since I have a dial-up connection, my domain disappears. Regularly. To verify this, I graded penny-dreadful.nu, and it got an F. I've never gotten an F on anything before in my life. I was so very upset, oh dear. Then the support guy told me that ALL .nu domains get F's. Grrrr. I am a front-row nerd! I do not get F's!

My domain disappears almost every month, for hours, and here this whole time it's been dumbass NuNames being rip-off artists. GRRRARRRRGH. So.

So.

So I am starting the first annual DOMAIN NAMING CONTEST!

Rules:
1.) The domain must end with .net, .org, or .com.
2.) The domain must not be taken by someone else.

Prize:
1.) Kisses. Hugs. A webpage? I'll make you any kind of graphic you like. I don't do great LJ icons, but if you come up with a good domain name, I'll try to make you anything you like.

Length of Contest:
1.) Until somebody replies? Forever?

So? So help me think of something, and I'll love you like a bruvvah, smooches, okbaibai.
