we must assuredly hang separately, lolz

This is, for anyone who's keeping track, the very first time I have ever gotten my LiveJournal to look the way I want it to look. Later it will have a header image and a different color scheme. Now it only has the happiness. If only all of life worked this way. My hair, for instance. Usually the more I fool with it, the more I look like the Wild Girl of Averon. Sad, that. But happy on the LJ.

I have been in an exceedingly bad mood lately, for reasons which have nothing to do with anything online. If I've been snappish, that's why. I'm always snappish, though, so I don't know how anyone would tell. But! Usually I'm not personally snappish, and I've been like that for the last few weeks. So, sorry if you've been personally snapped at. I've been trying to stay offline socially until I feel better, but it's not working out well. Anyway.

Okay, I know sharper wits than mine have assailed this tetchy strawboss, but I was surfing through an LJ-mod comm looking for a way to keep my comment strings from breaking my layout (found it!) (I love these sorts of comms, because they always feature posts that look like, "Help! HELP! There's a space between my userpic and username in my comment box, and I don't know how to remove it! HEEEELP!!" and then you look at the person's journal, and it's like black with white text and pink links and Britney Spears in 1999 and nothing's spelled right and none of the layers line up and each letter of the font is the size of a ripe watermelon, and you're thinking, All right, the userpic's the least of your worries, try asking for help with your soul-shivering lack of taste, stargrrrl3876.) and I saw this person's comment... I saw it. Okay. It seems as though people think that "lol" is a punctuation mark now, okay. Which. Okay. And then they think, yes, the period denotes a statement, the exclamation point denotes an exclamation, the question mark denotes a question, and the lol denotes a joke. Which. Okay. And then! It seems as though people think that you can add "lol" to the end of a statement and make it a joke. No. No, let me come right out and say no, this does not work. Putting "lol" at the end of a sentence does not make the words that preceded it funny. Or funnier. Or. I actually saw this comment on someone's LiveJournal: "Well, yeah! I went and had to have my tooth extracted, lol!" Except I don't think "extracted" was spelled right. People! NO.
