I applaud institutions who make gender neutral housing options available to any of their students. I think it is vital to the success (and persistence) of many students ( ... )

"I would pose the question, "is there a process by which first year students who are transgendered or intersexed (or who fall into other 'categories' mentioned in the rationale) may request special consideration for gender neutral housing?" And, "is it possible that this language regarding 'special consideration for first year students' be added to the official policy?""

agreed.

Thank you :)

"Is there a way to view "only" or "all" spaces in a positive and inclusive manner (inclusive to all who fall into x category) and not exclusionary (no x allowed)? Is that possible?"

that is a great question, to which I have no answer

Agreed. Like I said, exceptions to policy can be made. Or, if there's not a process by which these students can request special consideration, then can this be taken into accout and discussed to include in the policy? Or, if not, then is there a chance that there can be an addendum to the policy in the future stating this.
