More car stuff on the Mercedes:
- Changed the oil, filter, and oil filter stem O-rings.
- Changed the suspension fluid and filter. The self-leveling suspension on this car continues to work very well in spite of having been run dry by the previous owner.
- Took apart the instrument cluster to try to figure out why the odometer sometimes cuts out. Didn't find the expected cracked gears, but I found a couple suspect solder joints that I fixed. Odd side note - every W123-chassis Mercedes has a mechanically-driven speedometer except the 1981 300TD station wagons, which have an electronic ones. No one seems to know why. It seems like a rather expensive change to make for a single year on a low-production model; only about 10% of W123s were wagons.
- Installed a boost gauge. I like gauges. ;)
