I think I've finally found what's causing the '89 Cabriolet's misfire.

When I pulled the spark plugs to do a compression check, I noticed the #1 plug was covered with soot, but the #2, #3, and #4 plugs were clean. This was pretty interesting seeing as these plugs have only been run for a grand total of maybe 15 minutes. So, I pulled the #1 fuel injector. And sure enough, it's peeing out a solid stream of fuel instead of atomizing it into a mist. It looks just like the second picture in the "unacceptable patterns" diagram in the Bentley manual.

So, yeah. Time to order a new fuel injector. Hopefully that'll finally fix it.

EDIT: Gonna soak the old one in carb cleaner overnight before I order a new one...might get lucky.
