Rain

Tyler was feeling miserable. Things weren’t going so well for him at the preppy university he had chosen to mark the next four years of his life. Filled with studious girls who did nothing but burry their head under work load, to the guys who talked about their daddies businesses and what they could do to better them. Rich kids had the most fun, that’s what Tyler had grown up thinking. They had enough money to blow, and got away with murder. The girls were amazingly easy and so were the guys. So it was only natural he was feeling a little out of sorts with the new crowd.

Pogue had decided to take a year out and follow Caleb to Harvard, with both their girlfriends in tow. After the debacle with Chase, Pogue was a changed man (well almost). The guys were busy either tracing the roads with their bikes, or hitting it up with the cool crowd at Harvard. Too busy to take Tyler’s call that was for sure.

When it came to thinking about Reid, Tyler wanted nothing else but to blow his brain apart. The blond bombshell with his cocky attitude and nasty personality had been the bane of his existence. It had been six months the last time he talked to the guy, that was when he decided to not go to university with him and spend his time obsessing about Chase and where ever the fuck he had gone. Tyler was more than pleased the psychopath had taken a bunk, hoping that crazy addiction to the power killed him sooner than later. But Reid wanted revenge, which was odd because Chase didn’t technically do anything to him. But there it was, he was out there trying to find a guy who was seriously pissed off (depending if he was alive or not).

Tyler had left countless messages on Reid’s cell phone, as the months progressed Tyler’s calls became frantic, but to no avail, Reid never called back. He had tried Reid’s family, asking them where he was. But no one told him anything, keeping their mouths zipped. He figured they would have told him where Reid was, if it wasn’t for Reid’s mother catching him with his dick up Reid’s ass. The shrieking and screaming his mother had done, was enough to make Tyler loose his erection. It was really only a one time thing, both of them were drunk. Reid was horny (as usual) and wanted to play. It had nothing to do with the fact, Tyler had been hopelessly in love with his best friend. Drunk or not, Tyler had taken the chance with a flying leap.

He hadn’t even come when Reid’s mother had barged into his bedroom. So he was both embarrassed, bare-assed and unsatisfied. It also didn’t help that Reid found it hilarious. After that night, Reid didn’t mention what had happened, Reid’s mother gave him death-glares and the next day he was on the plane to Maine.

He had quit calling Reid’s parents house, he also quit calling Caleb and Pogue, finally he quit calling Reid. Everyone had moved on, and he had to move on too. Nostalgia and hysteria wasn’t exactly what he was hoping for when he started his college life.

Sighing deeply, Tyler got up from the window sill he sat on, in his bedroom. The court yard was drenched in what it seemed like a tropical rainstorm. The trees battered by strong winds, as the skies opened up and unleashed their anger on the solid earth. He had his own room, which only caused more loneliness. The room was large, fit for a rich boy. The furniture bought by his parents was exquisite, so was his computer that sat neatly on his thousand dollar desk.

“Well, look at the college boy.”

If Tyler turned around any faster than he did, he’d probably have decapitated himself (somehow).

“Shit.”

“Not the best of welcomes, but I guess it’s better than my mother’s slap,” laughed Reid stepping into the room. He kicked the door behind him, and leaned against the heavy wood. His hair was no longer bleached, the hair now darker; a brown shade and a tad longer than usual. His attire was completely black, tight black jeans and a tighter black t-shirt which made Reid look sinful as hell.

Coughing nervously, Tyler frowned as he figured what to say next. The fact that Reid was here in his bedroom after months of nervously wondering where he was, he was now lost for words. But Reid saved him the trouble and let out a small chuckle.

“I get it you’re annoyed at me. You don’t need to be.”

Finally finding something, Tyler balked, “ No? You’ve been missing for six months Reid. No one knew were you where.”

“My mom did.”

Tyler rolled his eyes, “Well she didn’t share that piece of information with me.”

Reid leaned off the door, and went to Tyler’s bed flopping onto the bed, boots and all, “Yeah well, she thinks you’re the spawn of evil now. Making her boy go down the ‘wrong’ path.”

“That’s all I need,” muttered Tyler, “Where have you been?” He asked sharply.

Reid lolled his head to the side, which probably granted him better access at looking at Tyler, “Places,” he said vaguely.

“Great you’re not going to tell me. You know could have just called, said you were alive. Why did you bother yourself coming all the way here,” spat Tyler.

“Oh come on baby, you didn’t think I’d miss your ascension now would you.”

Tyler was the youngest of the four, he was still seventeen and had yet to turn eighteen. His birthday was next week, it surprised Tyler that he had actually forgotten. The big landmark of his life.

“I…shit.”

Reid smiled, “You forgot.”

Tyler frowned, “That’s why you came back? After I ascend you back on your merry way then?” Tyler was afraid that his pout could be heard loud and clear.

“Honestly?” Reid said leaning up on his elbows, “I have no idea yet. I know you think I’m gallivanting around the world in some kind of mission statement. But whether you understand or not, I need to do this. But believe me, I would have never left you alone during your ascension.”

“Caleb would have come.”

Reid pursued his lips, Caleb and Reid loved each other, but there was always a competition factor between both of them. Not so much for Caleb, he was comfortable in his own skin, but Reid had an inferior complex when he came to Caleb.

“I called them, told them I’d be there.”

“Caleb was alright with that?”

“Who cares? I’m here, I’ll take care of you. He doesn’t need to be the first thing you think about when there is something important happening.”

“I guess I can’t help it.”

Reid chose to ignore that, “I’ll be here for a week. I’ll be there when you ascend.”

“And then you’ll leave,” finished Tyler. Reid looked away as he watched the rain batter the courtyard. The silence was enough to stab Tyler in the chest.

(I had the sudden urge to write some Reid/Tyler fic. This is my first story after three months (lj says 14 weeks). So yeah probably a little rusty. The next chapter will be titled Fire (God knows when that'll be written). But something fun for me to due during a huge work load).

chapter one: rain, chaptered, the covenant, tyler/reid, fic, slash
