Originally uploaded by Orthodoxgypsy. My search for a room concluded monday evening when I moved into my new room on Rosenheimer Strasse. I found it through a website called www.studenten-wg.de which is like a smaller scale craig's list that deals mostly in matching those people searching for a room with those who have a room to rent. I had been desperately searching since last friday when I called the two places that seemed like sure bets and was told by one guy that he had already rented the room despite, our supposed meeting on saturday when I was supposed to check it out and see if I liked it. The other person let me get as far as saying "I'm calling about the room" before hanging up on me. It wasn't even like it was a cold call, we had been emailing for sometime and she wanted me to come by and take a look at the damned thing. I'm thinking of writing her a really nasty email, actually, I think I'll just return the picture she sent with her email and say "I didn't want to live with you anyway, because you are ugly." So, I moved down here on saturday with no place to live. Luckily my pal Nate is the responsible type and he already had a room. I spent the first night there and left my stuff there for the second night while I stayed at a hostel. In the mean time I hit the internet cafes and sent out a ton of emails. One ad in perticular seemed right up my ally because they were looking for someone who spoke english well. I just so happen to be that someone or a someone who can do that thing so i called and emailed and got an interview type thing. I guess it went well, because a few hours later I was drinking in the hostel bar and they told me I had the place and I could move in the next day.
My roommates names are Steve and Kaddie. Steve is a welshman, and that is really all I know about him actually. His girlfriend Kaddie is a student in the area and grew up in a city pretty close by. Steve was the reason for the english requirement since he speaks barely any german. So far I really like them, we've been out drinking a few times and I am going to cook dinner for us all tonight. Pretty much this place is all I wanted in a WG (german word (well, abbreviation for a german word) meaning group living situation). I have the internet, I have a cheap indian place right across the street as well as a domination shop, a mexican resturaunt, an austrailian bar, several record stores and it's only 20 minutes walk from my job! The picture to the side was taken from my window with the sweet ass phone that Siemens is letting me use while I work there.
I know there is more stuff that I could write about, but I am hungry therefore I will beging cooking now instead.
