Mom and I went to Lawrence on Saturday. Skrat had a couple of entries on display at a Munny art show... which was very cool. If you've never heard of Munny... well, then you're just like I was before the show. Except probably taller. And thinner. Hmmm... here's a link:
www.kidrobot.com/2008/munny/ The Munny dolls are extremely unusual... an artist gets a barebones kit that they can do whatever they want to with it. I've got a few great pics from the show... for now I'll just post one of the pictures I took of one of Skrat's entries. He painted it with One Shot, which is used primarily for pinstriping and similar applications.
We had a great time in Lawrence... my brother was quick to try and inundate me with some of the local culture he so enjoys. I've gotta say... I'd be so addicted to said culture if I resided nearby. We ate at the Mad Greek for dinner (which, if you enjoy Mediterranean cuisine, I highly recommend), visited the Hookah House (which my mother greeted with a strange sort of nostalgia, explaining that the last time she had visited such a venue, in Germany before my brother had even been born, it had been somewhat less than legal), and stopped in at the Love Garden (which, with a sizeable vinyl section and several shelves full of CDs, could have held my interest for hours). Mom and I hit the highway back to Wichita around 8PM, and she headed back to Dodge the next day.
Then Skrat and Spacey came through town yesterday on their way home. Roulette and I had lunch with them at Buffalo Wild Wings. Mmm-good.
It's nice to see my family occasionally. This last year and some change has represented the first time I've lived in a different town than either my mother or my brother. You tend to take them for granted when they're always nearby. With Gabriel joining the family next month, I imagine I'll be seeing a bit more of them before too terribly long.
