Bits and Pieces

So many of my friends dealing with broken hearts lately. So sorry you’re hurting girls. Here’s your What is it about guys that convinces them they are protecting you by lying? What makes them so arrogant to believe that your whole world will collapse if the tell you the truth? That they hold so much power over your life that you can’t help but be destroyed. You’ve told them and told them, it doesn’t matter, I just want to know what’s going on. You always find out anyway, and then it’s worse because they made up a whole pack of lies to "protect you". It lies get so ridiculous that you start asking questions, dropping hints and making comments to deliberately trip them up. Seeing how big a hole they can dig before the cave-in. How fast they can tap-dance. It’s actually kind of fun.

They don’t want to "upset you". Please. For all they know, your reaction could be just to shrug and say "well at least you told me the truth for once". But of course that couldn’t be your reaction. No, no, no. You would be devastated. Crushed. You would cry and make accusations. You can’t live without them. Right.

You know what it is? It’s bullshit, plain and simple. It’s not about you at all. It’s about their cowardice. They’re too chicken shit to deal with any reaction, so they practice the natural male instinct of avoidance. They weave an intricate web of lies and pretend they’re doing it for your own good. After all, your whole world revolves around them. That’s what they think anyway. It’s all about them. It’s always all about them.

The lies hurt way more than the truth. Why don’t they get that?
transcribed just for you.

Have booked my flight to London. Leave on the 17th of July and got an amazing deal of 70,000 yen (C$800) off the web. Was quite chuffed. Now just have to get to Tokyo.

Have been feeling quite ill lately. At first I thought it was a cold, but none of my foolproof cold remedies are having any kind of effect. After pondering a bit, I’ve come to the conclusion that it may be allergies. Having never been allergic to anything, I still unsure, but if it continues, may have to seek some advice somewhere. It’s really annoying more than anything.

Have accepted the fact that I live on the other side of the world from the major English-movie producing countries. Have also accepted the fact that there will be many movies we get months after you see them (if we get them at all). I do think I’m lucky to able to see what I can, and will never again complain about paying $10 for a movie when they cost $21 here. So, I know I’m behind the times, but I still reserve the right to . Saw Chicago a month ago. Saw it again. Bought the soundtrack. Love it to pieces.

Last night I went to see Bowling for Columbine (best feature doc winner this year). I think this was released last September at home, but like I said, at least I got to see it at all. It was amazing. And if you haven’t seen it, do so now. Funny in places, horrifying in others. It really makes you think. Why are there 11000 gun related homicides in the US each year, compared to 355 in Germany, 165 in Canada and 39 in Japan? I have to get this one when it comes out on video. It’s also one movie I wish I could have seen with my brother. I was thinking all the way through it how much he would have loved it. On a side note, I lived in Toronto and always locked my door. I still lock my door even in Japan. Love to know where he found those non-door-locking people.

Going to X-men2 on Tuesday and the Matrix on Saturday, so not all movies take forever to get here. LotR appears to take months though, so must figure out what Asian city to see part 3 in. Part 1 was Hong Kong. Part 2 was Soeul. Hmmm… maybe Tai Pei for part 3.

My apartment is a disaster and I haven’t seen my bedroom floor for over a month. So on with the loud music and off to clean.
