Personality;
For being a silent protagonist, Minako's personality certainly packs a punch. Unlike her male counterpart, who tends to be more quiet - the listening type, Minako has something to say, and she's not afraid to say it, either - at least, when the time is right. More talkative, she may be, but she's still not a chatterbox, either.
Her attitude is definitely that of a positive one, she's an optimist about most things -- whether it's something serious like fully understanding the Dark Hour, or something minor like how many bowls of ramen she can eat in one sitting -- Minako isn't one to take things from a negative light. Not for herself, but more so not for the people around her. She is the type to go through great length to help her friends; it may often be something as simple as just hearing them out, but she'll always do her best to bring a positive spin to the conversation. She's a good listener without a doubt, and in most cases, she knows the right thing to say to nudge whoever she's talking to in the right direction. She does tend to choose her words carefully, malleable in handling situations case-by-case. While she may be gentle and encouraging with one person, it's entirely possible she'll handle things with a bit more snark and sarcasm with another. There are times, namely when she really and truly disagrees with someone (be it their words or entire train of thought) where she will loudly and firmly speak out against them; she makes sure she is heard and when she does, it can be surprising to anyone within earshot. She views it as circumstantial and dependent on the personality of who she's dealing with.
When it comes to the people she meets, she doesn't limit herself. It's not only her peers - be it in the SEES dorm or at school that she befriends. It's people of all ages, of all backgrounds, even. If there's even the slightest way she can feel herself connecting to someone, she will see it through until their bond is rock solid, even if it means being persistent or having to make investments. Minako can see through and past that, and certainly does on far more than one occasion.
Another important thing to note about Minako is her courage. Though to most, she may just appear to be average in terms of guts, not many people could do the things she did with ease. Without knowing or understanding the Dark Hour, she walked right through it, made a contract with a strange boy, and only made even a minor attempt to question these events after they transpired. Even her first experience with a shadow, she was able to do what Yukari could not - put the evoker to her head and summon a Persona, something she really knew nothing about. It wasn't necessarily that she did it, either, but it was the firm way she approached it -- there was absolutely no hesitation in her body, because she knew it had to be done. It was to protect not only her life, but Yukari's and the many others who could end up in the path of something so obviously dangerous. From that battle forward, she was able to lead SEES on the battlefield, something that isn't considered an easy task by any standards. Despite this, though - she's not reckless. She chooses her battles wisely, and often knows when the best time to back away is before she ends up cornered.
Minako's desire to grow as a person is something she's often diligent about. When she's not spending time with her many friends, she has many ways of keeping busy. She takes part time jobs at Be Blue V and Chagall Café when she can, as well as do karaoke (by herself, no less), play games at the arcade, and go to the movies -- and of course, study, like any good student does. Every last experience is something that holds meaning to her; she makes sure to live her life to the fullest extent whenever it is that she can.
Despite these things, Minako does have her share of flaws. For one, she tends to get tired easily, especially after nights she spends in Tartarus with sees. Though she'll often fight to stay awake through lectures in school, there's just as many times when she'll take a nap to energize herself for everything she feels she has to do when school's out. As a result of pushing herself so hard, she's a bit more prone to catching colds than the average person -- save for the other SEES members, who also seem to have that lowered resistance. It's also important to note that despite the fact that she has absolutely no problem listening to the problems of others, she's not very likely to share very much about herself. Those who are very close to her, those connected to SEES know her past and history, but she still isn't one to talk about it. She feels no reason to burden people with her problems - both past and present. They're things she learns and grows from on her own, but she can be very stubborn talking about, preferring to utilize her losses and tragedies as a form of being empathetic towards the people around her. As a result, she can be very mature and understand situations like loss and death very well compared to many of her peers. She's the type to turn her past problems into motivation to be a stronger person, and in that regard, she excels.
And finally, there is the catalyst; the driving part of Minako that speaks volumes of her personality and just how much she is willing to put others before herself. Self-sacrifice is not beyond her, and she will absolutely put her own life at stake for the greater good of not only her friends and acquaintances, but for humanity and the world. There is no doubt, no question, just an unwavering resolve that lies deep within her heart and mind -- if things come to it, she wouldn't falter. The end definitely justifies the means as far as she's concerned; while it's something that has not yet occurred for her point in canon, it's something she is aware could be a possibility, despite the fact that like every other major issue of hers, she keeps to herself to deal with. And while that possibility is there and concerns her, she will do nothing more than assure those involved that things will be okay -- because in the big scheme of things, she knows they will.
Overall, Minako is a bright and bubbly girl, with just enough sass to keep things interesting, all the while being courageous, determined and smart -- a well-rounded girl despite past hardships.
