last night i watched 'silver linings playbook'. i saw it at the cheap theatre, surrounded by older women.... i wanna say middle-aged, but they were probably around 60? what is that? what qualifies as middle-aged these days? anyway. there were at least two scenes in which the main character, who has BPD, has violent breakdowns. he's yelling and thrashing and going through anguish, and i'm tearing up because it's intense and ALL THESE WOMEN ARE LAUGHING. what the actual fuck? that aside, i enjoyed the movie, although i felt the last act strayed away from the mental health issues too much.
today i was going for a jog, and i saw this woman across the street walking two dogs. one was a greyhound on a leash, the other was an unleashed rottweiler, sutifully trailing behind her. i made eye contact with the rotti and it decided to cross over to my side of the street to say hello (i'm lying to myself, he wanted to see if i was friend or foe). i couldn't believe he was actually just coming over, luckily a cab was going slow so the dog didn't get hit. once the dog determined i was cool, he sauntered back over to his owner, AND SHE DIDN'T NOTICE A THING. ugh. if that cab was going faster, or not paying attention, she could have had a seriously injured or dead dog!
anyways. i'm getting itchy feet. easter weekend is coming up, thinking i might need to get out of town......!
