i've been following this guy on tumblr... he posts outfit photos and he's a pretty snappy dresser: http://stayclassic.tumblr.com/. he's also a photographer and i recently decided to have a peek at his work. wow! he lives in LA, which i've always written off as a boring city, but seeing it through his work really makes me want to visit it. his photos have that sad, decaying quality that i really love in cities that i visit. you can find his instagram here, or his website here.

i've discovered a new acne treatment! i've only tried it recently, but it seems to leave my skin happy. as some of you know, if always had finicky skin. i think the ph balance is off. i tend to have dry skin, with plenty of rough patches, and a bit of acne. i used to use the clean and clear invisible blemish treatment, which honestly, didn't do much. then i used a soap, the name of which i can't remember, but it's a white bar soap. it worked alright, but it was very drying, and the application was a bit time consuming (massage it into the affected area for a minute). for the past year or so i've been using tea tree oil, which works better than the soap, and was easy to apply. unfortunately, it also dried the shit out of my skin, which would sometimes lead to even more breakouts.

so a few days ago my cat bit me, leaving a scratch on my finger. after about a day, the wound was still open, itchy, and the skin around it was red, sore and a bit swollen. so i put some neosporin on it. the next morning, the cut had closed up and the skin was happy and healthy (not healed yet, but MUCH happier). so i thought, oh, what would happen if i put this on acne? i applied a bit on offending areas, and my skin is happier! the only downside is that i have no idea what the ingredients are, but i don't use much so hopefully i'm not poisoning myself.

i started reading a book last night, a non-fiction called "the film club". it's by david gilmour (the canadian writer, not the musician), and it's about what happens when he allows his son to drop out of highschool on one condition: they must watch three movies (of the father's choosing) together each week. but of course, it's about more than that. i'm only at the fifth chapter, but it's about the father-son connection (or parental-child), and how tenuous that can be. it's a really interesting read, but i'm also enjoying learning a little bit more about movies! (gilmour knows all the quirky facts and backstory to the filmshoots.)
