So pretty much the job I am working decided that they no longer needed a third shift. So they layed off the entire shift...except shipping which got moved to second. I was supposed to move to second anyway so it all worked out for me but there were some people who were not so lucky. There is one lady in particular that I am upset about.
There was this cleaning lady who might have been partially retarded but she was the nicest person ever. Nobody ever gave her the time of day or said anyhing to her but I made it a point to say hi to her every night or wave at her whenever I walked by. She would always come over to where I was working and say something like "hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii" or "they are slamming you tonight , huh" *in reference to the amount of work that I was getting*. But she was the nicest person ever and always cleaned our bathroom really good. ANYWAY they laid off the entire shift which included her and her husband. They both qualify for unemployment but I still feel bad that they both lost their jobs at the same time. The company gave them a 3 day notice. What kind of shit is that? How the fuck can you give like 200 people a 3 day notice? That doesn't seem fair at all. So anyway I talked to her and she said that she was getting laid off and was kind of crying so I gave her a hug and told her that she was a great person and deserved better anyway. I told her to feel free to use me as a reference at future jobs if she wanted to. She liked that idea and probably will :)
