new scandal.
JK Rowling is new public enemy number 1
and here (BBC) and here (in Italian)
in short - burn the witch! and her books!

what bothers me the most however about this "scandal" is that Rowling in general is quite a progressive person, pro women rights, pro gay rights etc. Say, she is misinformed or even wrong on this one. i do not agree with everything she says and not with every choice she made on whom to side with. But instead of engaging in a conversation or debate or education, we see calls for boycotts, ban her! cancel her! she is evil! "burn her books" almost. actors find it necessary to "distance themselves" from her. that is not how an argument is won or a person is persuaded. and especially in such a sensitive area as sexuality, gender, identity, thinking about which is FAR from established and agreed. but no, she crossed the "party line" and must be punished.

here is her actual post https://www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/

and here is the part that i found quite concise and agree with

"as many women have said before me, ‘woman’ is not a costume. ‘Woman’ is not an idea in a man’s head. ‘Woman’ is not a pink brain, a liking for Jimmy Choos or any of the other sexist ideas now somehow touted as progressive. Moreover, the ‘inclusive’ language that calls female people ‘menstruators’ and ‘people with vulvas’ strikes many women as dehumanising and demeaning. I understand why trans activists consider this language to be appropriate and kind, but for those of us who’ve had degrading slurs spat at us by violent men, it’s not neutral, it’s hostile and alienating."

thoughts, wtf
