I ran into my buddy Alexander today.
I've posted about him before... he's my favorite, among the Berkeley homeless.
I haven't seen him in a few months, and again, I was in the state of "hoping for the best and fearing the worst". Last I'd seen him, he'd just had major heart surgery, and was on oxygen.
He's still on oxygen, but he's now got a portable tank he can carry in a bag around his shoulder. His energy level is back to normal, if not better than before the surgery. He's still incredibly positive, and we gave each other a big hug today. I genuinely like the guy.
The roomie told me she'd seen him a few days ago, but I'd been missing him. Today he was back on his regular corner at Kittredge and Shattuck. In fact, if you go to the
Baja Fresh website for the Berkeley restaurant, you can just make him out in the photo. He's the guy in the white t-shirt, kinda near the walk/don't walk sign, leaning on a slight angle. That's how much of a regular he is on that corner. At least I'm pretty sure that's him.
I'll have to tell him he's online.
I picked up my tax forms today. I suppose I should do something with them.
