ALSO, THIS

It has come to my attention that some people seem to be under the impression that the reason that I, and other people of a similar disposition to myself, bother to point out things that are problematic in things that many people enjoy - for example sexism and racism in TV and comic books - is to try to make ourselves look good and get backpats for how PC we are.

This is incorrect.

I cannot, of course, speak for everyone, but I know that in my case it is not because of that, and it is also not because I am genuinely bothered by these things even when, or even especially when, they occur in things that I like. It is not because I think it is important to not just accept the institutionalised and deeply damaging discrimination that saturates everything around us as no big deal or just the way life is, or because I want to see fewer people put offensive shit into stuff that I otherwise enjoy in future. No!

It is because I hate fun.

Like, I fucking abhor it. I don't want anybody to be having it, ever, so I just try to make people feel guilty about enjoying things, all of the time, in order to prevent them from having any fun - because, as we all know, it is completely impossible to enjoy anything ever whilst at the same time acknowledging that some parts of it are not that great. That is why I don't like any works of fiction and also never smile.

Anyway, this all brings me on to the main point of this post: my esteemed colleague Pob has done me the honour of drawing a portrait of me which I think does a good job of conveying precisely how much I hate fun.

As you can see my loathing for fun has transformed me into a terrifying harpy, but I am okay with this because it means that now I can rip people's fun glands right out with my awful talons instead of bothering to get worked up about discrimination - which, let's face it, is a pretty roundabout and inefficient way of spoiling people's fun.
