"Look at this."
"I see it."
"What do you think I'm supposed to do with this."
Steve stared at the puppy. Its tail wiggled slightly as it looked up with massive dark eyes. "Pet it?"
"When I save a puppy from a burning building, I expect there's going to be some distraught woman to be fawning over me because she thought her sweet little snookums was done for." You couldn't exactly see Tony's scowl through the mask, but it was easy to assume it was there. "I don't see any distraught puppy-owning women, Steve. What the hell am I supposed to do with it now."
Steve pursed his lips, still watching the furry little thing squirm happily in the steel grasp. "I'm going to stick with petting it."
"That is hardly helpful to my situation."
"Well maybe it will help you calm down. Puppies are good for that."
There was a long, frustrated pause, before one of the fingers grasping the animal shifted in a way that may have been like stroking the fur. The puppy yipped, pleased. There was another pause.
"I see it."
"What do you think I'm supposed to do with this."
