Well the cake came out successful. The kids loved it and they even ate it.
I made 2 portions of an "Easy Sponge Cake" from a book I have that is called "teatime treats"
I received some advice from
eliezrah made this cake first for her 3 year old in September, which is where btw, DS got the idea and also I followed what this website said:
http://www.andreasrecipes.com/2006/11/11/little-einsteins-rocket-birthday-cake/ Especially for the engines.
DH and I bought two kinds of ice cream waffles to make the engines. DH is really good about such engineering dilemmas and he made the engines whilst I made the rest of the cake.
I had to use, Red food coloring. I also had a tube of blue Jell which I used for some details and to color some icing light blue for the window. We dipped a lollipop in the icing for the top part.
and here are the photos prove it.
BEFORE IT WENT IN THE OVEN.

I DIDN'T LET ANYTHING GO TO WASTE, I FORMED THE ROUNDED TOP FROM THE BIT I CUT OFF IN THE EARLIEAR PHOTO. HERE YOU SEE THE ICING PROCESS AND DH ICING THE ENGIN AND GETTING READY TO ATTACHE IT. HE WAS A BIT MESSY SO MY SIDE WINDOW TURNED PURPLE BUT I WAS ABLE TO FIX IT A LITTLE AND IT WAS OUT OF SIGHT.
