What have I gotten myself into this time?

This week I'm taking half a day off on Tuesday for the Kindergarten, Pirate party and I need to make a Pirate Ship cake…that seems to be reasonable…but on Thursday, I'm taking a whole day off because that is when we are having the after kindergarten party at the Gymboree [indoor padded play area] for this I need to make a Little Einstein's rocket cake…sheesh.

DH has already said that I must compromise and use food coloring this time…grrrr.

Thank goodness for the internet, some pretty good ideas. I don't understand why I can't figure this out for myself; it doesn't take a rocket scientist!!! I hate that I'm so dense sometimes. …or maybe it's all the time.

I'm going to try and bake the rocket cake in two Pyrex bowls (1 small, 1 medium)…hopefully that will make for easy assembly…I'm wondering if I should get sugar dough, instead of icing.

Man when you start to add it all up this birthday is quite an expense. no matter.

This weekend we went to a double birthday party…two parents sharing the bill…the boys cake was a treasure chest, easy to make and a great out come. The girl's cake was at attempt at a four pillar castle…but sadly it collapsed.  The kids weren't bothered, they still had fun.

DD's birthday is tomorrow, she tasted a cup cake yesterday at MIL's, but I'm starting to feel seriously guilty that I have nothing for her. I don't know what to do. She's oblivious to it anyway. My older brother is in France this week skiing…so the only thing I can do tomorrow to mark the occasion is get DS, my dad and my youngest brother [if he isn't working late] to sing with me Happy Birthday on Monday evening after work.

I don't see the point in celebrating in the day care, like the other 4 babies will know any different.

DS is asking for me to bring her to his kindergarten party…it's sweet of him, but I'm not sure it's that convenient, considering that she's mobile and curious with a thirst for  trouble…I also don't want the entire class to corral around her as they often do.

Her gift is making its way by air mail to Israel…let's hope it is here by tomorrow.

birthday, ds, baking, dd
