The year thus far.

Friday was DH birthday. During the morning, after dropping DS at day care I took DH to the "men's store" where I had credit from a birthday gift I got my brother back in 2007 that he didn't want and so I used that for DH belated Hanukah gift. He needed a new belt, so he chose one.

His birthday gift was making its way across the Atlantic, he got it yesterday…a bit dorky of me but what could I do. I can't buy him cloths because that is MIL territory and also DH says he has enough cloths [except he recently mentioned he needs more pants] and he really doesn't get excited about gifts that are cloths. BTW, he didn't try on pants at the Men's store because he wasn't in the mood to get dressed and undressed.

We didn't have much time to walk around Ra'anana, so I ended up getting him breakfast "to go" from the Coffee Bean and having it in the car, then going to pick up DS and back home.

Back home I baked with DS help of course, Fig Newton's [DH favorite cookie] I allowed DS to choose two shapes and just have the pastry…because DS doesn't like fillings. I used a new recipe and I must say, I found the Pastry to be too puffy. DH liked it though, so next time I make them I'll just make them smaller because they will get plenty big in the oven.

Fig Newton's are fairly easy to make only require a bit of work…specifically the fig filling, which is why I typically make them once a year. I had some filling left over so I'll make more pastry later on this week.

My father is spending a week in England; he went for his sisters 80th birthday. So I thought instead of the traditional Friday dinner [which isn't anything to brag about] I would take everyone out in honor of DH birthday. So I invited my brothers to join and we went to Spagetim. It's local. It's tasty and we know DS will eat his dinner there [plain spaghetti with parmesan on the side] and we also had a coupon for DH that gave him a free meal and desert.

The evening would have been perfect, if it wasn't for an over tired thus bratty DS that caused my eldest brother to behave in a certain way that caused DH to get upset, because he doesn't like him anyway, and that caused a bit of a scene! Oy.

My entire fault of course, stupid of me to think that I could take 3 male adults and one child and think they would all behave themselves. Yes, DD was with us, but woman don't behave this way. If I was paying more attention to the child sitting to my left, maybe it could have been prevented.

No matter it's behind us. Suffice to say; being the dutiful sister, I defended my older brother, besides no one else was standing up for him. The other brother was clever enough to just keep his oar out of it, besides why risk damaging the good relationship he has with his BIL.

Consequently, after we were done with the meal we drove home, because DH didn't want to go over to my father's house after that. He didn't speak to me that evening. He was busy being crossed and playing star wars. I was texting my youngest brother and took his advice and just let DH simmer whilst I watched "27 dresses" [the movie we rented].

DS, as expected fell asleep in the car, so just as well we went home.

On Saturday, I let DH sleep in. by the time he woke up it was all but forgotten, I spoke about it with him briefly, understood how he felt, he claims it has nothing to do with him not liking my brother, but I'm sure it doesn't help and when I see my brother next, I'll make a suggestion to him…though at the office I was told to leave it.

DH made good progress with the flat this weekend. We started applying joint compound to the wall where we had scraped off the paint. I see the light…

I checked online the air fare to the East Coast for the Fall…the prices right now are good but we can't book because we just can't plan 10 mos. Ahead. We might find ourselves over our heads with selling the flat and moving…so we don't want to commit to this. FIL says that if we pay now [ticket it] we get the good value of the $, if we wait the $ might appreciate. [sigh] DH thought he wouldn't let so much time go by between visits back home to see family…but back home is just so far away! We aren't even thinking of the west coast.
DD will be under 2 years of age, so she'll only cost taxes. The cost of air fare is 50% flight 50% taxes, can you believe that!!!

I have a cousin on the east coast and I'd like to go to her sons Bar Mitzvah…we are just a small family after all. I would love it if my whole family would go. DH would like to visit at least one of his sisters and we also want to get the kids an American citizenship, it's possible, it's expensive but it requires one visit state side.

DH got his gift yesterday, 2 days late isn't too bad…its A Darth Vader USB hub.  It makes these breathing sounds and stuff. He thought it was cute.

Today we have a PTA meeting.
