so here is some interesting news about my dad health wise.
about a month ago a routine blood test showed an elevated creatinine level indicating Kidney function issues.
So my dad went to see a Nephrologist. Remember he had a CT of the Kidney done in December. Well, it turns out you are supposed to drink plenty before you get that done but no one told him and I guess he didn't. The Nephrologist said that a CT of the Kidney can cause Kindney function issues if you don't drink enough before. However she said that it gets better and she will monitor him to see that it goes down.
(Nor was I told to be on fast when I had a cholesterol blood test, luckily for me I remembered)
The Nephrologist took his history and he told her he takes gloucaphage for his diabetes type II. She told him to not take it anymore because it can harm the Kidney and to take a different pill (Nouverom)
He went back to his GP to get the other pill she mentioned and the GP told him he doesn't like the other pill because it has various other side effects and that since he sticks to his diet (yeah, sort of) and his sugar result is stable (that is the sugar taken once in 3 or 6 months) that he wanted him to go off the glucophage and instead start using a Diabetes Monitoring System (which only cost him 24 shekels). The nurse showed my dad how to give him self a blood test and now he is going to do this randomly 3 or 2 times a day and eventually go back to the dr. and show him the results.
The interesting thing is that when they showed him to do it in the clinic he's sugar was 91, which is excellent...of course he told me he had lunch 5 hours before that and only a pickle since, so it was like half a fast.
Mind you the following day, he was 110 after lunch and 202 after supper...[gosh what did he eat for supper?].
Anyway, should be interesting to see what comes of it.
My dad thinks our GP doesn't like it when other dr's differ from his opinion.
health,
