After Hours

Dani stared into the crackling fire in the quiet, after hours of Xavier's. She and her friends had finished their first round of big tests today, and though the Native American girl confidently felt that she'd passed the tests, and they'd even saved the world again afterwards, she still wasn't sure that this strange school led by a white man was where she belonged.

She felt the soft rise and fall of her best friend's chest where she lay across her long, muscular legs. Dani's eyes drifted from the fire to gaze instead at Rahne's peaceful, sleeping face. There was only two things about this school that made her want to stay. One was that being here had been her grandfather's wish for her; the other was the sweet girl now laying in her lap.

Dani smiled as she stroked Rahne's fur. The Scot was always so beautiful, regardless of rather she was in wolf or girl form. She was the only thing about Danielle's new life Dani actually liked, but, Dani thought, curling her fingers in her crush's soft, brown hair, as long as Rahne would have her as a friend, even if her strict Christian upbringing forbade her to return Dani's true feelings, she would stay. And as long, she thought, smiling and her eyes beginning to close, she had Rahne, things wouldn't be all so bad. She fell asleep with Rahne licking her fingers to dream sweet dreams of a world wherein they could truly be together.

Alone At Last

"Alone at last!" Shutting the door on their family and friends, Kitty turned to Rachel with a beaming, expectant smile.

"Coo," Lockheed purred and dove into their bed.

Kitty shook her head as she gazed into Rachel's beautiful, green eyes, her brown orbs beginning to mist over again. "I was beginning to think you'd never come home this time, Ray! It's been so lonely without you!" Despite the string of boyfriends Kitty'd had, only one person in all the world truly filled her heart, and that was her beloved Rachel. She cupped her lovely face in her trembling hands and brushed her thumbs softly over her bruised cheeks. "Did you miss me, Ray?"

Rachel's smile was shaken. "O-Of course, I did, K-Kitty, but I -- I just -- "

Kitty touched her lips to hers in a searing kiss full of passion and love. She clung to her, her body pressing tightly against hers and her tongue dipping into her mouth's sweet well with an unquenchable thirst.

"Coo!" Lockheed called approvingly from the bed. The purple dragon wriggled his eyebrows at the girls.

But then Rachel broke all their hearts as, gasping, she tore her lips from Kitty's. "Kitty," she lied, "I'm not your Rachel! I don't remember you this way!" She forced herself to walk away. Her heart shattered again as she did so, but at least, this way, she knew she wouldn't hurt her love again when she had to leave once more. Rachel cried. Hunter or hunted, she was always doomed.

Anything Goes

"This is boring!" Illyana pouted, stomping her feet and glaring at the computer monitor as thunder rolled on outside. "I don't know why it had to rain today! We could've gone dancing!"

Kitty sighed and turned to her best friend as she allowed her character in the game to die. "So what do you want to do?" she asked.

Illyana looked at the beautiful, older girl thoughtfully. Her blue eyes sparkled. "Anything goes?" she prompted, her Russian accent becoming suddenly thicker.

Kitty shrugged. "Sure," she agreed, nonplussed.

Lockheed cooed. Kitty wondered idly why the little dragon shifted his purple wings and took off flying, but then she suddenly had no more time to think about it as she found a pair of lush, young, supple, and light pink lips pressed against hers. Kitty's brown eyes shot wide as heat soared through her body and lit her very soul on fire. "Illyana!" she squealed as Illyana sat back, smiling triumphantly.

Illyana cocked her head; her long, blonde hair slipped behind her back. "You said anything goes," she reminded her, her voice and smiling face full of joy and confidence.

Kitty stared at her in shock. "The things they taught you in Limbo -- "

"Was to do what I want, love who I want, and I choose you, Kitty."

Kitty hesitantly cupped Illyana's beautiful face in her hands. "I love you, too, Snowflake," she admitted, and then she kissed her again and again. The girls had the best fun ever that stormy afternoon!

The Best Laid Schemes

"Raven, dear," Irene called, carrying in a tray of leftover Chinese and wine, "it's time you got up."

Raven buried deeper into her pillow. Big and filled with downy feathers, it was one of her few luxuries. Irene had bought it for her. Too many days had passed with Raven unwilling to leave its fluffy comfort. "No. Those damn X-Men! They always foil the best laid schemes!"

Irene set the tray down, sat beside her love, and stroked her back. "Is there anything I can get you?"

"Yeah," Raven growled. She fired her gun. The bullet blazed through a picture of her greatest enemy, through the wall, and out into the main apartment. She smirked as Toad yelped. "Charles Xavier's head on a platter."

"How about Toad's?"

"Hmph. A joke out of you? Now I know I'm down."

"You know, Raven, we don't have to fight them."

"The Hell we don't!"

"Rogue is with them of her free will. That's why we can't win. You're scared of hurting her."

"Old woman -- " Mystique snarled, rising at last.

Irene boldly placed a finger on Raven's mouth; she was the only one who could ever silence Mystique. "Our paths are intertwined with theirs. We can't change our destinies, no matter how much we wish otherwise. I still love you, though; I always will!" Raven melted against Irene's lips, and Irene kept the rest of her truths to herself. Raven would never believe, after all, that one day, she, too, would wear the X.

The Bitter Love

Irene stood alone in the ashen battlefield after everybody else had left. She turned, hearing a soft, hissing sound steadily coming closer to her through the burned grass. She bent and held out her hands; the snake came right to her. She stroked her love's scaly skin, then stepped back and allowed Raven room to transform.

"Sssshe hit me!" Raven cried as soon as she had a mouth. "She hit me with a blow that could've killed me!"

"She panicked. The child did not mean to harm you so much," Irene consoled as she took her life partner gently into her arms.

"She could have killed me!"

"She panicked. You were about to kill the man she believes can free her of Carol's ghost."

"He can do nothing for her that we can't!" Raven spat angrily.

"I know, my love; I know," Irene soothed, tenderly running her fingers over her sweetheart's aching face. She held to her beloved Raven as she wailed on about their daughter who had forsaken them, keeping her own tears inside as she reflected on the path she had forseen for them all where the bitter love between mother and daughter would seal all their dooms.

Come Again

She sat on the hillside, tears misting in her brown eyes. Her dragon flew in circles high above her head, welcoming the dawn, but though her best friend was only a little ways away, Kitty still felt utterly alone for her other best friend had been missing for far too long now.

She sighed deeply, her chin sinking onto her knees. She hugged her legs close to her body and whispered her love's name as the sun rose above the churning sea. "Rachel."
Her soul mate had come and gone from her life now more times than Kitty cared to count. She knew she'd come again, but the waiting grew harder with each separation. Neither time nor death could keep them apart, but she was so weary of this game they played. "Please hurry home," she whispered, dropping her sad face onto her knees, and miserably cried away the morning.

The Dangerous Games

He lit his cigar as the girls faded away into the night. "We've got trouble, homme," he spoke, making no physical notice of the other man who stood more deeply in the shadows.

Logan snorted; his own cigar flared. "Ain't no trouble," he remarked casually, a single claw illuminated by the cigar's light.

Red eyes glanced doubtfully at Wolverine. "You wouldn't."

"What? Attack 'em? Hell, no, Cajun! You know better'n that. Laura's my daughter, an' Jubilee's more mine'n if she had my blood."

Remy smiled in the dark. It was nice to hear Logan talk so openly about the girls they both loved, but that was the problem, wasn't it? Their love for them showed them the pitfalls of the dangerous game they were playing by falling in love with each other. Loving a Vampire was bad enough, but X still had killer instincts. They'd worked with her but couldn't entirely curb her impulses. Both petites were walking time bombs.

"Leave 'em alone, Remy. They're in love. They won't hurt each other."

"How you know? Ain't like you never been hurt by some one who loved ya."

"No." Logan shrugged, then grinned and spoke a truth Remy couldn't argue with, "But I've never been loved like they love each other, either." The girls might be young, but their souls were old and they loved each other more deeply, passionately, and truthfully than anybody else Logan'd ever witnessed. Their love didn't endanger them; it gave them what they needed most to survive.

Deadly Desire

Her teeth'd grazed her skin; the taste was so sweet that it still lingers in Jubilee's hot mouth every time she sees her. Se dreams of it every day and awakens every night to sweat-soaked sheets and X's beautiful image filling her mind. She knows she should stay away from her, but she can't. She's pulled to her like a moth to a flame, and she's the flame, waiting to burn her and destroy them both when they least expect it.

X knows better. She's been warned to keep Jubilee at a safe distance. Those warnings, coming from her father, who was once like a father to Jubilee, and her best friend anger her. Both men love Jubilee; yet, they fear her now after her transformation. They have warned X many times of how deadly a Vampire's desire can be, but yet X still has no intention of turning her away.

Vampire, mutant, or human, she accepts and trusts Jubilee for the woman she is. She's heard, too, tales of love, and she's beginning to wonder if that is what brings the burning sensation to her body every time she sees Jubilee and the eagerness that fills her every evening as the sun sets. She knows the rise of the moon will bring Jubilee again, and X anticipates it every time. She turns to meet her again now, and they smile at one another, each looking forward to the adventures the night and exploring these forbidden feelings further will bring.

9
The Delicate Vice

She gazed upon the woman she had once loved and trembled inside. Ororo had always been able to fill her with excitement with the barest glance, and despite the years that had passed, that had not changed. During their time apart, Kitty herself had changed, however. She'd been with three different guys, though two of them had shared the same first name, which, if she were honest with herself, should have been enough to warn her away. She had loved men and been loved by them, but they had all hurt her in turn.

Her beloved, Ororo, however, had never hurt her. She had always cherished and treasured her as true love should. She was safe here, safe with her. She would care for her heart, even protect it, and never hurt her. Her doubts put away, Kitty turned her face up to Ororo's and met her kiss for kiss.

The End⚐

10
Detour

She was so thoroughly exhausted after defeating Ogun again that all Kitty really felt like doing was curling up into a tight ball, Lockheed snuggled in her arms, and sleeping for a month. But she wasn't done with the States yet. She wasn't about to leave without making one detour back to her home.

That should've been Deerfield, she reflected, but her hometown hadn't been her home for years, not since she'd been a little girl first learning what it means to be a mutant and, more importantly, an X-Man. At that time, she'd been so young and naive that any adventure had excited her.

Tonight, however, she was weary of adventuring and saving the world. Her very soul was exhausted from constantly pushing herself to be the best X-Woman she could. But there was one thing, one person, of whom she never got enough.

Kitty skirted around the main school gates and doors. She walked on air, Lockheed flying beside her, to go to the attic and knocked on the same window she had when she'd first fallen in love as a starry-eyed child.

Ororo opened the window and covered her in hugs they had both missed for far too long. There was no longer a need to hide; yet, they still did as Ororo carried Kitty into their home. Kitty clung to her. Ororo kissed her, reawakening her soul, rejuvenating her being, and showing them both the wonders of their love that would never die but always save.

11
Either Is Love

They were alone in the Danger Room; Kitty watched Logan practice. She'd declined training with him, and he knew from that and the way she pouted every time he looked in her direction that something was bothering her. He defeated his last foe and turned to her, lighting a cigar, as Cerebro switched programs. "All right, pumpkin, out wit' it. What's botherin' ya?"

"I think I'm in love," she blurted out, obviously more than ready to talk.

"An' that's somethin' to be upset about?"

"Well, yeah. No. Yeah. I dunno!"

"Kitty -- " Logan growled impatiently.

The next revelation came in a rush of words, and Logan realized that the girl could talk faster than Quicksilver could run. She gushed about the wonderful, thrilling sensation of new love, how Piotr made her feel, and also how she was still unsure because there was another who made her feel all the same things better and more.

"So who's the other guy?"

"Not a guy. A woman." Logan failed to hide his surprise; his teeth clipped his cigar in two. "Yeah, so, you see, that's my whole problem!"

He forced himself to shrug. "Love is either."

"Huh?"

"Ya can love a man or a woman. Gender don't matter."

"Really?"

"Have I ever lied ta ya?"

"No." She grinned. "Cool!"

They turned as Ororo entered. Kitty shocked them both as she kissed her. Logan silently whirled around and ripped apart his new practice dummy. He'd never have told her if he'd known it was his Ororo!

12
Encore

"That," Rachel breathed heavily as she rolled off of Kitty, "was incredible!"

"Yeah." Kitty grinned. Making love with Ray consistently proved to be way better than any fantasy she'd ever dreamed, and dressing up as Piratesses had definitely been an inspirational idea! Their coupling was so fantastic that, if she were a smoker like Logan, she'd now be smoking two cigars at once! Instead, she leisurely trailed her fingertips over her beloved's ample breasts. "That was amazing," she agreed, "so amazing it demands an encore!" Rachel laughed her delight as Kitty set to plundering her sweet booty all over again.

13
Fair Game

"Rachel!" Kitty shrieked, laughing, as an unseen force swept her legs out from under her. "It was supposed to be a fair game!"

"Kitty," Rachel gently chided, carrying her back to her through the sky. "we're mutants. We should always be able to use our powers; my telekinesis and your phasing are as natural to us as breathing." She wrapped her loving arms around her beloved best friend. "Besides," she murmured against her lips, "all's fair in love and war." She silenced any further protests her girlfriend may have had by covering her hot lips with sweet kisses full of passion.

14
Good Girl, Bad Girl

"Illyana!" Kitty gasped as rope suddenly coiled around her neck and snatched her back against the headboard. "You're good now!"

"Oh, I'm a good girl," Illyana replied huskily, her tone hovering somewhere between a lusty purr and playful growl. She straddled Kitty. More ropes snagged Kitty's arms back. "But I'm also a bad girl." Her Russian accent grew thicker. A candle appeared in her bare hand; its flickering flame danced dangerously in her baby blue eyes. Illyana wiggled on top of her. "And I'm best when I'm both."

Wax dropped onto her core. Kitty grimaced instantly, thinking to herself that she should have phased no matter how much she didn't want to just disappear from underneath the woman she loved. Yet the wax, she realized in surprise, didn't burn. It warmed her and made her tingle, but it didn't hurt. She yelped in surprise and then screamed with pleasure as Illyana buried her mouth where the wax had just gone.

The ropes became extensions of Illyana's hands, caressing Kitty's flesh and adding to her pleasure. By the time the Sorceress was done, Kitty again no longer cared if she was good or bad. She only cared that she loved her!

Into the Fire

"Ack, Dani," Rahne cried, blinking up at her through swollen eyes, "I can nae believe ye did tha'! Ye should nae ha'! Ye could've been killed, goin' up against tha' gang all by yuir wee self!"

Dani gazed down into her beloved's beautiful face. Softly, she touched her. She had watched over her for hours and yet not dared to touch her lest she somehow hurt her until now when she had finally at last awakened, for which Danielle silently thanked the Spirits. "I'd do it again, Rahne. I -- "

Rahne whimpered, and Dani dropped her hand. "Ye should nae talk like tha'."

Danielle stifled the sigh that rose within her. "I'm sorry, Rahne. I'm not asking you for anything that you can't give me." Or, rather, wouldn't because her strict, Christian upbringing had lead her to believe that any love between two girls was impossible and a wicked sin. "But I also will not shy away from the truth. You are my best friend, Rahne Sinclair, and for you, I will always walk into the fire." She would walk into Hell itself, too, Dani swore, if that was what it took to love Rahne, and never regret a moment of it!

The End⚐

16
A Labor of Love

She carried her to their bed, laid her down, and started her nightly transformation. Raven had always hated changing her appearance to have sex, but for this incredible woman who actually adored her as much as Raven did her, it was different. For Irene, it was a labor of love for Raven knew she could give her far more pleasure by growing a penis than she could with her own body.

Irene softly touched her lover's face. "Not tonight," she whispered, and Raven stopped in surprise.

"Are you sure?" she asked, suddenly breathless.

Irene gazed directly up into Raven's still yellow eyes. Her own eyes were white but not at all dull tonight. They were, instead, filled to overflowing with love. Raven ceased her transformation and became herself once more. Raven almost cried with love. Their love making that night was the most amazing experience either woman had ever had!

The End⚐

17
Love in the Shadows

In the cool of the evening, when shadows grow longer and the Witches of old used to gather, Kitty could sometimes still feel her lover come to her. She tingled and shivered, both hot and cold, as ghostly arms wrapped around her willing body. Kitty couldn't see her, but she'd know Illyana's touch anywhere and knew that death could not stop a Sorceress as powerful as her best friend.

When she had last known her, Illyana had been reverted back to a child. Her mortal form had died from the Legacy Virus, but the passionate power that engulfed Kitty at these times was definitely not at all childish.

Kitty threw her head back as searing kisses began raining down upon her mouth, face, and shoulders. She moaned, but yet, as pleasure rocketed through her soul, she also cried. The ghostly arms wrapped around her in a hug meant to be reassuring, and Kitty tried in vain to return the hug. The kisses started again, but though they lit Kitty's soul with a passionate fire far beyond anything any one else could ever bring her, Kitty still wept for fear that she'd never get to truly hold her beloved Illyana again.

18
Obsession

Remy lights his cigar; its flame illuminates his red eyes as he watches his young friend eagerly checking their apartment's door. "Chere," he calls, "come away from dere. She be here soon enough."

The glare X sends him tells him that his advice is neither wanted nor appreciated and that Jubilee can not arrive soon enough. Remy thinks about offering her a drink but quickly decides against it. Alcohol is the last thing X needs tonight to further cloud her usually sharp and wise decisions.

Meeting like this is getting to be an obsession for the two girls. Remy would have been glad to see them connecting with any one else. He wants them to be loved, but finding love together, now that Jubilee is a Vampire, is more trouble than he wants his young friends to have to face.

Yet, as he sees X's face light up like a kid's on Christmas and knows her look means she can now smell Jubilee's scent as the Vampires approaches, Remy can't help the sad smile gracing his face. He'd tried talking to X about her building relationship with Jubilee and the trouble to which it can lead, but he'd lost the girl when he'd mentioned the L word. She'd told him she had no idea what love was, and though Remy had tried to explain, he'd still fell short. Watching the girls together now, however, he knows that they both know what love is, even if they don't yet realize it.

19
One Way Trip

She looked into her eyes and knew instantly, deep down, that there would be no return from this place. The young girl's smile made her heart hammer for the first time since she found her beloved Grandfather murdered. Danielle did not want to be here in this white man's world, but yet she knew, from the connection she was already feeling with the young shewolf, that this was a one way trip. Blessed Grandfather, Dani thought worriedly, unable to take her eyes from the Scot's, what have you gotten me into?

The Spirits' answer was just as frightfully startling: Love.

20
The Other Side of Love

Jean had often wondered about the other side of love as she'd once heard one's attraction to the same sex referred. She'd seen couples, both of same and different sexes, passionately making out in public for years but never felt that passion herself. Her husband, though she loved him, was a stick in the mud, and she was left fantasizing often to give herself any real passion.

Those fantasies frequently turned to Jean's best friend, who was the most beautiful being Jean'd ever witnessed. Still, it took her decades to act on her unspoken attraction that built every time Ororo hugged her, touched her hand, or pressed her body close to hers in battle. It took Jean until months after her husband's passing when they were out dancing with the other X-Women.

Their bodies were close together as they danced. Their nearby friends were too busy with their own partners to notice Jean take Ororo's hand in hers. She pulled the former "Goddess" closer to her and kissed her before she could lose her nerve. Ororo was passion personified, on the rare occasions she let herself loose; Jean wanted to be engulfed by that passion.

Ororo took Jean's hands in hers and gently removed her. "You've had enough to drink." Jean cried as Ororo flew off, but Ororo didn't dare look back. She flew, instead, into the rising storm. She had cared deeply for Jean once, but she'd chosen Scott over her then. That choice would last them a lifetime.

The Passion Game

"Ah know! Let's play Th' Passion Game!"

"The what?"

"The Passion Game. It's where ya kiss everybody in th' room," Paige blushed, "ta see who makes yer toes curl th' most."

Jubilee Looked at her, not realizing they were alone. "What were you people in th' hicks doin'?! No wonder ya marry yer cousins! Yer nuts! Ya have any idea how easy it is to get a disease doin' that -- that Passion Game?!"

Paige returned Jubilee's look, a thoughtful expression settling over her pretty face. "There's somethin' else 'bout us country folk ya don't know, Jubilee."

"What's that? That ya eat corn in yer grits?"

"Grits're corn, but that's 'side th' point. Today is Sadie Hawkins Day, an' that's th' day we women get ta go after whoever we want an' make th' first move."

Jubilee grinned. "Then lay it on Jono already!"

"No." Paige grabbed Jubilee's grinning face in her hands and kissed her before she could stop herself.

Jubilee stood with her mouth wide open afterwards. Paige looked up and beat a hasty retreat as their teachers appeared. "Damn."

"What was that, Jubilee?"

"Nothing," Jubes murmured, although she felt like she'd been given everything, and chased after Paige.

The Restless Beds

The lighthouse was full of restless beds after the week Excalibur'd had. The full moon had not helped in the least. Kurt stirred his coffee, his long, blue tail swishing slowly, as he tried to wake. He'd ended up spending most of the night on the shore by himself but had still been able to hear Meggan's howls and screams. It had sounded as though she'd almost torn poor Brian apart, and Kurt knew it would be hours before Brian and his fair lady love joined them.

He stifled a yawn, sipped his coffee, and knocked on Kitty's door. It wasn't like her not to be up at this late hour of the morning, and they should already be in their fencing session. Kurt knocked again. It took three more knocks before he finally received an answer. "I'm coming!"

Kitty phased through the door instead of opening it. Kurt smiled at her flustered face and change of clothes. "So zat's vhy you're late," he commented, flashing her a broad grin and twitching his tail. Meggan and Brian weren't the only ones to have enjoyed the full moon.

"What? What are you talking about?"

Kurt chuckled. "You're vearing Rachel's robe. You know, Katzchen, no one vould blame you and Rachel if you were to move into ze same room."

Kitty blushed deeply. "Hush, Fuzzy Elf!"

Kurt laughed merrily. "Ve vould understand."

"Hush!"

"You're late for our fencing, you know."

"You are so getting your butt kicked!"

Kurt laughed and bamfed away.

Sinful Desires

She couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned, filling her sheets with sweat as sinful desires filled her mind and heart. Her best friend, now an innocent child again, labored in the next room, her breathing shallowed by the disease eating away at her.

Visions of the past filled Kitty's mind. They were replaced by images of a happy future in which she'd once believed but now would no longer happen. She would've waited for Illyana as she grew again, but Illyana wouldn't wait for her. Silent tears tracked down her face.

A gentle hand suddenly touched Kitty's sad face. The touch stilled her writhing body. "I-Illyana?" Kitty whispered, still asleep. The child screamed in the next room as the blonde teenager smiled down at her lover.

"It's okay," she assured her. "It's me. I'm never going to leave you, Kitty." She touched Kitty's breast with one hand and her head with the other. "I'm always going to be here with you." Her hands swept over her body and came to rest again on her low stomach. "In you."

She pierced her; Kitty cried out, first in pain and then in pleasure. She ravished her quickly, covering her with loving kisses that would have to last them forever. Then Illyana started to vanish. "Don't leave me," Kitty begged.

"I won't," she promised, and then she disappeared. "I'll always be here." Kitty woke sobbing. Woman, child, and teenager cried. Running from her room, Kitty spent the rest of the night with Illyana.

The Sisterhood

"Hey! Stop shoving me! I could just phase through you, you know!"

"I know, Kitten," Ororo consoled, "but you will not." She shoved her into a room.

"What's the meaning of this?!"

Kitty looked up, wide eyed, as her best friend yelled. She was being pushed in through the other door, and the room was filled with X-Women. Ororo and Jean shut the doors behind them. "You were overjoyed when I married your father, Rachel," Jean spoke, "and not just because it meant you'd be born. You told me you wanted me to be happy."

"I did," Rachel admitted.

"And I want you to be happy, as well." Jean caressed her anger face.

"What is this?" Kitty demanded. "An intervention?"

"Coo," Lockheed enthused.

"Yes, it is, Kitten. We know you two love each other but will not act on that love."

"Life is too short not to act on such a wonderful connection," Jean interjected.

Strange Embrace

X watched Jubilee walk away, feeling strange inside. Her heart pounded as fast and hard as though she'd just ran across the country. There was a painful stirring low in her body, but it wasn't coming from her stomach. It hailed from somewhere lower, a place with which X wasn't familiar although, before meeting Jubilee, she'd thought she was a Master of its every aspect. Her palms sweated; her mind swam with the memory of their embrace earlier that night.

She was only just becoming familiar with emotions outside of anger and vengeance. She knew sorrow, regret, and grief too well. Remy had taught her friendship and caring. Yet this new feeling far eclipsed all other emotions she'd ever felt. X remembered Remy telling her how one day she'd feel something so grand and powerful that it would astound her and maybe even leave her feeling as weak as a kitten if it was returned, as his had not been for the woman with whom he'd fallen in love. "Love," she whispered aloud.

"What's dat, cherie?" Remy asked, standing beside her.

She looked at him, wide-eyed. "Could it be love?"

Emotions flashed over his face before his careful mask fell back into place. "Non. You'll know it soon enough, petite, but not wit' Jubilee. She a Vampire now; Vampires don't do love." He left her on the street, watching, waiting, and yearning for Jubilee's return. He was wrong, she thought; he had to be. This was love, and Jubilee felt it too.

The Time and Place

"Raven, don't do this."

"Irene," Mystique growled fiercely, her pupilless, yellow orbs glowing, "this is not the time and place. Stand down, Destiny."

"No!" Irene exclaimed as silent tears started to race down her wrinkled cheeks.

"It's okay, Destiny," their daughter called from behind her. "Ya don't have ta stand up fer me. Ah can take care o' mahself now, thanks ta th' Professah."

"Where's your cherished Professor now, huh, girl?"

"He's comin'. They're all comin'. Ah'm nevah alone any more, but y'all wouldn't understand that, would ya, Mystique?"

Mystique gestured with her gun. "Move, Destiny. Let me fill this thankless girl full of lead."

"NO!" Irene was weeping openly now. "You're not thinking clearly, Raven; this isn't you. If you want to kill Rogue, you'll have to go through me first!"

"What makes you think I won't?"

"Because I know you, baby. You won't hurt me, and if you were thinking right, if you weren't hurting so, you'd never threaten Rogue."

"THAT BITCH CAN'T HURT ME!" Raven screeched, but her gun shook.

Irene started closing the distance between them, holding her hands out to her love. "Go," she hissed at Rogue. "Go now, child, if you ever loved us."

Rogue flew, crying, and Irene caught Raven and caused her shot to go wild. "YOU MADE ME LET HER GO!" Raven wailed. She railed against her beloved Irene, and Destiny took her hits calmly until, at last, Raven collapsed. Then she held her love, through the night, as she wept.

The Twisted Path

"Welcome home, Kitten."

Kitty stared into her beloved's deep, blue eyes. "Ororo," she breathed. She was no longer the child she'd been when the X-Men had been apparently killed. Her life since had become a twisted path. She'd traveled through time, parallel dimensions, and other galaxies and fought countless battles, and yet, here she was, back where all her adventures had began at Xavier's and with the beautiful woman who had always been her role model, most cherished friend, and first love.

Ororo smiled gently, sensing Kitty's warring thoughts and doubts. She wasn't sure if she still wanted her as they had been together before as passionate lovers, best friends, and dedicated life partners. "Kitten," she spoke again, cupping her sweet, young face in her loving hands, "stop me if you don't want this."

Instead of stopping her, Kitty lifted her lips to meet Ororo's kiss. Ororo kissed her gently at first, and it was Kitty who made the second move and deepened their kiss with passion that had and would never ebb. Their arms wrapped around each other, and they pulled one another close. Kitty was home at last! They were together once more and would never part again!

Two Women in Love

They'd been so careful, keeping their love behind closed doors, kissing in shadows, and holding hands only when nobody was looking, until the day that Kitty was almost killed. Phoenix'd been ready to kill by the time she'd reached the punks who'd taken her beloved Kitty, but Erik, the once-feared Master of Magnetism, Magneto himself, had talked her down. Now, as the girls clung to each other and continued crying, Erik looked at them and shook his head. "You're not fooling any one, you know, children."

Rachel blinked at him through her tears. "Excuse me?"

"Just go ahead and kiss her." The Phoenix flashed in Ray's green eyes; Erik nonchalantly waved her away. "Love should never be hid, regardless of rather it is shared by two women, two men, or a man and a woman."

"Maybe you should take your own advice," Ray shot back, but then she smiled as she looked back down to Kitty and gently stroked her face.

"He's trying to help, Ray," Kitty whispered.

"Then he should've helped himself and Charles," Rachel acknowledged aloud, reveling in the shock she felt radiating off of him, but then as Erik hung his head and wished it could have been as easy for him and his beloved as it was for the kids, Rachel did kiss Kitty again and again.

Much later, she took him aside and hugged him again. "I'm sorry. Thank you." He smiled but still couldn't keep tears from his eyes as he remembered his beloved Charles.

When Lights Are Low

When lights are low and the others are gone, she comes to her. She wraps her arms around her and pulls her close. Their hearts beat as one.

Kitty still grieves for the X-Men. Rachel knows she can never replace them in her heart and doesn't try. She just comforts her and kisses away her tears.

At other times, Kitty's waiting for her, kisses her first, and almost takes her on the spot. These times are as fiery as Rachel's codename. Rachel always knows what her beloved needs, gives it to her as soon as she can, and always will.

A World Divided

She stares at the screen, unable to believe her eyes even as tears well into them. Kitty's alive and with another superhero team! She delicately touches the image of her beloved on the TV screen. She traces her mouth as she speaks, remembering what it felt like to have her hold her, kiss her, to feel her mouth on her breast . . .

Her heart thunders, and darkening clouds clash outside. They exist in a world divided by hatred and fear. The X-Men, at this time, can do more good if the world believes them dead. That means also having to hide from their family. Although the others have complained of the misery hiding brings, it's never hurt her so until right now.

The winds outside howl her misery across the Australian desert. Ororo hangs her head and weeps, and as she cries, the storm in her heart rages over the outback.
