Chapter 31

“I can’t believe you were right,”said Nikki as they walked out of the doctor’s office. “How did you know we were going to have a girl?”

“I seriously didn’t know at all love. I guess it was just luck.”

“Thanks for coming with me.”

“You know I wouldn’t miss this for the world.”

“You know I appreciate it.”

He smiled and kissed her. “I’m just great that I’m going to be the father of your child.”

But what happens when my daughter finds out that Orlando isn’t her real father,she thought. How am I ever going to tell her that her father left me for some slut and almost left me for nothing? What will my parents say when they find out about this?

Well,they probably won’t even give a damn. But I don’t want to lose my child. I worked too hard to get this far. At least I have Orlando. I know that I can trust him as the father of my child. He loves me and I know that he’ll never leave me. He did promise me that too.

“Nikki?”

“Yeah?”

“You went silent again.”

“I’m sorry. I was thinking about something again.”

“What this time?”

“Like…what will happen my daughter finds out that you aren’t her real father. Orlando… I’m going to have to tell her sometime in her life.”

“She doesn’t have to know.”

“She’ll asks questions.”

“You shouldn’t have to worry about this nice Nikki.”

“I just don’t her to get mad at me Orlando…but I don’t want to lose you.”

“Then don’t tell her.”

“I’m just so afraid.”

“You don’t need to be afraid Nikki.”

“There are many things I’m afraid of Orlando…not just that.”

He sighed. “I know love.”

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be acting like this.”

He smiled and kissed her. “You don’t have to be sorry. I know you’re scared and all. That’s why I’m here,remember?”

“Yeah.”

“So…do you know what we’re going to name her?”

“Do you have any ideas?”

“I’m not really good with this type of stuff.”

She laughed. “Same here.”

“I guess it’s because we’ve never had to do this before.”

“Yeah.”

“Well…I was think about Elizabeth, Jenna, Megan, Katie.”

“Out of all of those I think I like Elizabeth the most.”

“Really? Why? Is it because Keira’s character was name Elizabeth?”

“I just really like that name.”

“Then it’s settled then. We’ll name her Elizabeth.”

“You really didn’t have to do that.”

“You said you liked it.”

He smiled and kissed her. Then looked at her. “You know I was only kidding love.”

“Very funny.”

“Well,looks like we’re home,”he said as they came to the driveway of the house.

Chapter 32

When they got inside the house the phone was ringing. Orlando ran inside to pick it up.

"Yeah she's here. One second please,"he then jerked his head. "Hey Nikki!"

"Yeah?"

"It's for you!"

She went into the other room. "Who is it?"

"It's Laura,"he gave the phone to her and then walked away.

"Laura?!"

"Hey girl! Oh my god! I haven't talked to you like forever."

"I know. I guess you heard."

"That you're having a baby?"

"Yep."

"Boy or girl?"

"Girl. Laura..."she paused.

"What's up?"

"Have you seen Aaron lately?"

"No. Something happened."

"Like...?"

"I don't know hon. He just hasn't been around. But then again,he and his girlfriend might have broken up."

"Are you serious?"

"I don't know."

"Sorry."

"How are you and Orlando doing?"

"Great. We're getting married in a couple of weeks."

"Sweet!"

"I sent out an invitation not too long ago. Did you get it?"

"Yeah. I think I'll be able to make it."

"Good because you're going to be the maid of honor."

"Then count me in!" They both laughed. "So,do you know what you're going to name the baby? Oh! You need to tell me when the baby shower's going to be too!"

"Slow down here. We haven't planned a baby shower yet because we still need to get stuff for the wedding."

"That's true."

"It'll probably be a couple months after the wedding when I'm more prepared."

"All right. Well,I had better go then. I don't want to be holding up anything."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah. I just wanted to check on you anyways."

"Well...all right then. I guess I'll talk to you later."

"Bye."

"Bye,"and she hung up the phone.

"Is everything all right Nikki?"asked Orlando as he came into the room.

She nodded and smiled. "Yeah. Everything's fine. Laura just wanted to call me and tell me that she's coming to the wedding."

He smiled and kissed her. "Good. What about your parents?"

Her smile then turned into a frown and she sighed. "I don't know. I sent them an invitation,but I haven't gotten any word."

He hugged her. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything."

"It's not your fault. You have a right to ask."

"Thanks." Ein then started barking.

"Well,I had better go take care of him."

Chapter 33

What did she mean what she said that something had happened to Aaron,she thought. Once again,she knows something and won’t tell me. Why does she always do this to me? Doesn’t she know I hate it when she does this? Why can’t she come out and say it? What if he’s on a plane right now and she knows it? God I’m so scared now.

“Nikki,are you all right?”asked Orlando as he walked into the room. “You’ve been in here for about 2 hours.”

“Orlando,I’m scared.”

He sat down on the bed and she moved closer to him. “What’s wrong love?”

“I keep getting this feeling that Laura knows something and she won’t tell me.”

“Like that?”

“Well…I asked her about Aaron on the phone and she told me something happened,but nothing else. Orlando,what if he is coming here?! What if he’s coming here to kill me?!”

“Whoa now! Calm down love. Everything’s going to be all right.”

“No it’s not Orli.”

“I know you can take him Nikki.”

“Not when I’m having a baby coming.”

“Well,we’re not moving or running away Nikki.”

She nodded. “I know. I’m tired of running…I’m just scared.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m here and I won’t let anything happen to you. I love you--,”Orlando then paused for a minute. “Did you hear that?”he whiserped.

“Yeah.”

“Someone’s on the roof. Let me get my gun.”

She grabbed his arm. “No. Let me go.”

“Nikki,I can’t let you get hurt.”

“If it’s Aaron then I need to stop this.”

“I don’t want you getting killed.”

“Don’t worry. I won’t. No please let me go!”

He hesitated. “Oh all right.”

“Stay here.”

“One thing though before you leave.”

“Yes?” He drew her closer and they embraced. His lips were trembling.

“I love you.”

“I love you too. I’ll come out of this alive. I promise,”and with that she made a mad dash out the door.

Chapter 34

Nikki hurried to the hallway where she heard the footsteps. She then turned on the light and saw a figure. It was Aaron.

“Oh my god! I knew it was you!”she yelled. She just stood there,her hand in her pocket ready to take out her gun. “What do you want?”

“Is it true?”he asked.

“That I’m pregnant?”

He nodded.

“Yes I am.”

“I came to take you back.”

“Why? So you can call me your slut for the rest of your life? You have no idea how good I have it here Aaron. Orlando’s given me everything I ever wanted,and you gave me nothing.”

“Then I’ll have to kill him.”

“Like hell you will!”she said as she took the gun and pointed it at him. She then heard footsteps. Orlando was coming down the hall.

“Are you really going to shoot me.”

“Come anywhere near my fiancé and I will. Get the hell out of our house Aaron. I’m not afraid of you anymore.”

He then started to leave,and then took out his gun. He had it pointed it at Orlando.

“Orlando,please leave.”

“No. I’m not leaving you,”he said.

“Then let me have her back,”said Aaron.

He shook his head. “No,”he then took out the gun in his pocket and shot at Aaron before he had a chance,and with that Aaron fell to the ground. He looked at Nikki. “Are you all right love?”

She didn’t answer him. She just fainted into his arms.

Chapter 35

Later that night Nikki found herself by Orlando in their bed. It was already past 3 in the morning and he hadn't gotten any sleep.

"What happened?"Nikki asked as she woke up.

"Looks like you're finally up."

"What happened?"

"You feel sleep love. Well,you actually fainted after I shot Aaron."

"Is he all right?"

"He's still in the hospital."

"What's going to happen to him?"

"They're taking him to jail after he recovers."

"Why did this have to happen? I didn't want anyone to get hurt."

"It's not your fault."

"Yes it is."

"Relax Nikki. I don't need you stressing out now."

She sighed. "I'm sorry. I should have never gone out with him."

"Why not?"

"Because this would have never had happened."

"But look what came out of it."

"And someone got hurt."

"Forgot out that."

"I get your point."

"I'm glad you're having this baby Nikki and I want to get married to you."

"I want to get married to you too Orlando."

"Then don't worry about the bad things. Think about the good things that have come out this all right?"

She nodded. "Ok."

"I had better get sleep then,knowing your ok."

"You haven't gotten any sleep?"

"I've been worried about you too much. I didn't know if you were going to wake up or not."

"Oh."

He got in bed and they both went to sleep.

Chapter 36

That morning Orlando woke up to Nikki in pain. He knew this was going to happen and that she wasn't in labor just yet.

"Nikki,are you all right?"asked Orlando as he woke up.

She nodded. "Yeah. I'm all right."

"No you're not. You're in pain and you're sweating. I'll go get your medicine." He rushed into the bathroom and brought her back some pills. "Here,"he said as he gave them to her.

"Thanks."

"Please don't lie to me Nikki. You know I don't like it when you do that."

"Sorry. I just didn't want you to worry about him."

"I'm supposed to worry about Nikki. That's what lovers do."

Well,no one ever worried about me before,she thought. I guess I could get used to this though. "I'm really sorry."

He smiled and kissed her. "It's all right. I hope I didn't seem harsh."

"No,you didn't. It's just that..."she paused.

"What's wrong love?"

"No one has ever worried about me before. This is the first time someone has really cared about me."

He hugged her and kissed her. "Well,I'm here to love and worry about you Nikki. Do you think you could get some more sleep? It's only 6:30."

"I guess I could try to."

Chapter 37

After Nikki got up she went straight downstairs to find Orlando in his office. There was stuff all around the room.

"What is this?"she asked.

"Well,we have to get ready for the wedding now don't we?"

She smiled. "Yes we do."

He walked over to her and kissed her. "And I want the best for my wife."

"Thank you."

He kissed her again. "I love you."

"I love you too."

"Are you feeling better?"

She nodded. "Yes. Much better."

"That's good. Oh,I got you something." He went into the closet and came back with a box. "I kind of felt stupid doing this,but I hope you like it. Mostly the men don't do this,but I thought I would anyway. At least they didn't have me try it on. Go ahead and open it.

She then opened the box. Inside it was a white dress. "Is this my wedding dress? It's beautiful!"

He beamed."

She walked over to him and kissed him. "You have no idea how happy I am."

"You like it?"

"Like it? I LOVE IT!"

"I hope it's the right size."

"Let me go upstairs and try it on. It looks perfect,but you can never be too sure."

Chapter 38

"Thank you so much Orlando,"she said.

"It was no problem."

"If I wasn't pregnant I would give you something special."

"Oh,I think I can do better than that."

"Really?"

"Well,I'm not like most men."

"I hope not."

He smiled and kissed her. "I love you so much and I know how hard it would be for you to do that on your own."

"Well,I can get out. Don't forget about that. But I'm glad you went through all the trouble because I really love it."

"Any thing for my fiancee."

"You are going to be a wonderful husband."

"You're going to be a wonderful wife,and I know you're going to be a wonderful mother."

"Then I know you're going to be a wonderful father."

"Thank you."

"No,thank you my wonderful husband-to-be."

Chapter 39

The next morning when Nikki got up she awoke to Orlando kissing her on stomach. She looked at him and smiled. "What are you doing?"

He smiled and moved up to her. "Just wanting you to know how much I love you."

"I think I already know that."

"Well,our child needs to know that too."

She smiled and said nothing. She was still worried about what would happen when her child found out that Orlando wasn't her father. But she knew she didn't need to worry about that. She was getting married to him in two weeks.

"Are you all right?"

She sighed. "Yeah. I'm fine. Just a little tired."

"You can go back to sleep if you want to."

She shook her head. "Nah. I'm fine. I think it's time for me to get up anyways. I need to go take a shower. I won't be long."

"Take your time."

She kissed her. "You're too much. I love you,"and she went to take a shower.

Nikki took her shower and then went downstairs to see that Orlando wasn't anywhere in the house. She then saw a note on the counter saying that he taken the dogs out for a walk. Well,that was nice of him,she thought.

Two minutes later he came in the room with both Sidi and Ein. Ein jumped on the couch and started kissing Nikki.

"Looks like someone missed you,"said Orlando as he came over to Nikki and kissed her. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm doing fine."

"Want to do anything today?"

"Actually,I was thinking of getting some clothes for the baby. Is that all righ with you?"

"I'd love to do that."

"Let me go get my shoes and then we can leave."

Chapter 40

Something happened that night. Something that Orlando and Nikki didn't expect for a long time...but it happened.

"That was a great dinner,"said Nikki. "I could probably go for some more,but I know it wouldn't be healthy for me or Elizabeth."

"That's a wonderful name,"said Orlando as he kissed her. "I love you."

"I love you too. Well,I'm going to go upstairs and take a bath."

"Do you want to go anywhere tonight?"

She shook her head. "Nah. I think we did enough stuff today. Well,I guess I'll be going upstairs."

"Don't wait up!"he yelled through the kitchen.

"I don't think I will,"she yelled back. But something happened as she started going up the stairs. Her breathing started getting harder. Not now,she thought. I can't have this baby now...it's too soon! But as soon as she knew it,her water broke.

"Nikki!"yelled Orlando as he ran into the room. "Well,looks like it's time. C'mon. I'll take you to the hospital."

"But it's too soon."

"Well,it looks like your water broke. We don't have time to argue do we?"

She shook her head and he helped her into the car.

Fifteen minutes later Nikki was all settled in the delivery room with Orlando by her side.

"How are you feeling?"he asked.

"I'm fine."

"Just do what they tell you all right? You'll be fine."

"Will you promise me something?"

"Yeah?"

"Promise me you won't leave my side....oh god."

"What is it?"

"She starting to come out. I can feel it..."

"You want me to help you?"

"Just stay right here by my side...
