The boss lady.

My boss is from Long Island,NY...and came to the OBX in the 80s. At the time she came here, she had been a processing plant supervisor, and was pregnant with her first child, which she nearly miscarried from the stress. When I got here, my boss saw all the signs...I couldn't make a fist with my left hand. My hands shook. I cried off and on with no control. I threw up now and again.
My boss and my new coworkers took me by the hand and made doctor's appointments, and gave a lot of hugs....they took me out to dinner or invited me over.
They really, really did not want me living in the apartment I was in when I first moved here....north of the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge is "Currituck" and "too far away"
My boss also had a problem. The woman renting her above garage apartment started using heroin again after a stint in rehab.

My boss' kids dumped the old furniture out of the apartment...and they, along with my coworkers, moved my stuff in. So, yes, I live with my boss in a 400 sq foot apartment above her garage....there is a door that connects me to her kitchen. My rent is 200 every paycheck (every two weeks) and covers absolutely everything...I can use the pool, hottub and the washer/dryer. She babysits Orion, my 15 year old cat...and knows I am a furry. When I first got here, she had me followed a bit to see what I did after work, and found out I go to the beach, go grocery shopping, or eat out. She knew something had to be strange, so she asked....I told her about being a furry, and introduced her to Uncle Kage's Story Hour, and The Funday Pawpet Show. Her impression of furries are nice, gentle, harmless geeks. She keeps wanting to meet my friends and asks when will they visit.
