This just in (through BoingBoing and another website:

On the surface, this is one of those "the internet is a series of tubes" moments. But when I glanced at the newspaper upstairs, the Washington Post was running a story about how the Republicans were "debating" the merit of Roosevelt's new deal.

Umm... what is to debate?

The really nefarious piece of what's going on here is that the Republicans are trying to rewrite the dominant historical narrative. They're trying to "swift boat" the New Deal, and Obama's bailout package with it.

Repeat something often enough - and have the media spew it back out - and it becomes true.
