This weekend is the um.... 4th? I think it's the 4th. Unless it's the third...... :/ anniversery of my first visit to Wells College.

Anyway,

The internet isn't cheap in the hostel, 3 euros an hour, 2 for half an hour, 1 for 15 minutes. I was just buying 15 minutes here and there to check my mail and make quick replies.

bought half an hour. ohh... splurge. so i can write a real update.

Today was my last day in Athens. Last night got bit on the eyelid by a mosquito and my lid was swollen all morning. Wore my sunglasses. By 1 it was gone. Had real greek mousaka and strawberry juice on the street in a Taverna. a sparrow came and sat on the side of the breadbasket and was picking at my bread. It was impossible to chase him away.

Went back up to the top of the Acroplis one last time, saw the Parthanon, Erctheion, Propeliya, Temple of Athena Nike, and went into the Museum. Nice Museum for being small.

Went down the hill to explore the ancient Agora. I like how some places in Greece, like at Delphi, and the Agora, it's so easy to imagine how it was in Ancient times. The Agora was more then a market place, but a meeting place, the center of Greek life and birthplace of Democracy. You can imagine the buildings and temples at the height of their splendor, and citzens strolling and shopping and listening to orataers speaking about politics or business or war on one of the many bemas. The temple of Hephistaphles (greek god of metal craft) is there. It's small, but the best preserved temple in all of Greece. The inside walls and stella are still in tact.

I'm leaving early tomorrow morning, so I'm going to go pack, and then go find a place to buy a gyros. Have got to try a real greek gyros before I leave.
