In trying to catch up with a friends' blog...in which I am very far behind...I realized that I have also neglected my poor blog. So to my loyal readers I apologize for disappearing but I have the distinct feeling that you will be hearing from me often in the next few months.
To catch you all up to now: Life was pretty shitty for a while. When one aspect goes to Hell it's hard not to let the rest follow. My job was trying to kill the little remaining self-esteem I had and I was helping them. In a nutshell I was struggling with my main objective of certifying and our only solution was to repeat and evaluate...I now refer to this fondly as the never-ending failure loop. "You tried, you failed, you shall try the same thing again..." with each "pep" talk I grew more depressed. It got to the point were when my parents came to visit I had to try desperately to act happy; I don't think I was convincing. But I ramble, life was shit until it got slightly worse and better at the same time.
About a month ago I was informed that a small round of layoffs was coming and my name was on the black list. Finally last week it was a done deal and I am now unemployed. In some ways I'm relieved b/c the job was a bad fit for me, but on the other hand I am looking for a new job in a really tough market with hundreds (possibly thousands) of other laid off people in my industry. :P
Today was my first Monday of unemployment. I lived shamefully in denial for the majority of the day by feeding my TV addiction. However, at about 10:30pm I received a few sparks of inspiration that I followed and thus I do not feel the day was a complete waste. I will do better tomorrow. And I should be asleep by now, but currently my head is buzzing with all the things I should have done/started today.
Maybe if I make a list I can get some sleep soon.
Tomorrow's To Do's:
Set up printer....print resumes
attend workshop on emotional impact of being lame and jobless?
find contacts at Space and Rocket Center for future info interviews
attend St. John's networking meeting
Send resumes to: Card, Nevada, Louis Whitlow at least
Contact USA co-op coord.
Contact USA hsv contact
attack the blog search
file for unemployment
strategy for Facebook networking
errands: mail vision insurance claim, deposit checks, buy books?, fix GPS, clean house, call mom about added veggies to lasagna
okay so no way will I finish all that tomorrow; it's more like this week's goals.
Goodnight readers.
