So good news! I weighed in officially Tuesday morning at 240.2 lbs, and then later that day I had an unofficial weigh in at 239.4! I can't remember the last time I was below 240 lbs. Also, I found a pair of khaki/cargo shorts while cleaning last weekend that have a waist size of 38, and they fit me! This means I've lost 2 inches off of my waist so far.

In other news, Jossie and I are making some changes to our diets (and by diets I mean what we eat, I do not mean to imply that we are on some sort of "diet"). We are making the move off of a reliance on red meat, and whenever possible replacing it with turkey (obviously there are something like steak you simply cannot substitute). This is a huge deal, and I'm proud of us.

We are also making reducing our daily sodium intake a priority. This is probably an even bigger deal than the red meat decision, because consuming sodium in excess of 1,500mg/day (the FDA says 2,400mg, but for 80% of the population, that is too high) is one of the worst things you can do to yourself as it leads to all kinds of other problems. Plus, my biggest argument for watching our sodium closely is that by avoiding high sodium foods, we are also avoiding foods that are bad for us for other reasons, because there is a very high correlation between high sodium content and all kinds of other artificial/processed ingredients we should also not be eating in great amounts (like partially hydrogenated oils, fat, extreme levels of calories, etc).
