SLASH pet peeves

I'm going to skip over the general stories Pet Peeves like not knowing the correct forms of words, and such. These are some major items I have found in slash writing and don't understand WHY These stories are so popular and get recommended. These are just my personal opinions, and as a slash author myself, I can say that I find it really irksome ( Read more... )

haha. Well we authors appriciate that.

1) yeah, I don't get it either. I was rec'ed a story earlier today that I looked at. It's on Fiction press and literally, EVERY LINE is people talking. Paragraphs are no more than 2 or 3 lines, and while SOMETIMES that happens, it shouldn't happen through the majority

2) I find Dub-Con in the eye of the beholder. So I'll usually give those a try and if it's not my cuppa I'll stop reading, but I've read some Dub-Con's that I've really enjoyed. I don't mind a stockholm story if it's not the main characters. I find that... I dunno.. boring? *heh* and like you said, mildly creepy. In my own story, I had a scene that would have turned into rape had another character not intercepted, and I don't mind rape to continue a plot, but I really hate a story that is nothing but Porn rape, torture, beatings rape rape porn porn porn rape porn... I mean.. really how is that a story? And I've read a story that has at LEAST 200 comments per chapter about how great it is, and it's NOTHING but porn, torture and rape. I dont' get it.

4) HAHA. Yeah my co-author is southern and I lived for a time in both lower Alabama and Nashville, so I totally get the nicknames. But even there, I rarely heard men calling other men those names, unless they were joking.

*laughs!* Those banners are hilarous. *laughing*

Aw! Thanks about adding our story to your "To-Read" list. We worked very hard on it and (thank GODS) it's almost done @_@

My biggest pet peeve is when someone I don't know called me "Honey" or "sweetheart" I don't mind as much in the south (cause pretty much all women call women that *heh*) if it's by a woman, but I can't stand ANY MAN calling me that. It's degrading.

I totally understand about the WIP thing. I don't get involved in those either. But I can PROMISE ours will be finished. Nothing short of DEATH will get us to stop. After...like.. 50 chapters 3 books in the series, come hell or high water we will FINISH!!! *DETERMINED*

Yeah, a lot of those nicknames from anyone than a friend sounds demeaning. *heh*
