Terminology Questions and Apology

Jun 29, 2007 23:13

Hey there guys:

First thing--

I'd like to offer up is an apology for not getting my installments up on time. Last weekend I had a convention that took up so much time, and this week, well, I was just being dumb and could have sworn up and down all day that it was Thursday. Oops!

But I'll try to get an installment up of Larkenia's Flaws soon, and I'm hoping to hear back from my editor about the latest chapter of La Fin De La Fee Verte. A new short story is also in the works, as well as more installments of Lie. Woot!

Second thing --

I got an e-mail from one a website patron, who brought up an interesting point to me. He thought that the word 'serial' was an out-dated and confusing term. I tend to enjoy it, but I was thinking of switching it if I enough people found it frustrating. I'd love to know what you guys thought about the word.

And, well, once that word was brought up, it was sort of like a Pandora's box effect. I began to question several terms that I use: for instance, I've both read and participated in the chronic debate about the nuances of difference between the terms slash, original slash, gay fiction, original yaoi, etc. Traditionally I've used queer fiction as a generic term, but is that specific enough? How did you guys find the work?

What terms do you prefer in writing? Which do you dislike?

I'd love to hear about anything, from terms like slash, queer, serial -- or even terms for erotica: such as penis, come, nipples, etc.

I'd love to hear from you all!
Thanks!
