Game of Thorns - Loyal Adaption?
So I watched the first episode of "Game of Thorns" this afternoon, and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. I absolutely have to know what happens next (curse HBO and their damned cliffhangers).
After bemoaning my fate (a whole week until the next episode) it occurred to me that I could just read the book, which has been in my to-read pile for over a year. The wikipedia page for the show says that it's a loyal adaption of the series, but I thought I would double-check with you all (since we all know how accurate wikipedia can be).
Is "Game of Thorns" a loyal adaption of the book? Could I pick up the book in order to find out what happens next, or would I have to complete the entire series in order to begin to get a feel for what's going on? And would you guys recommend the book, or do you think that the show is better than the novel?
